Hi Anon! I'm actually have difficulty answering this because Leon is one of the hardest characters to draw, especially his face (as it is perfect lol). I do a lot of getting it wrong before I get it remotely right. If you can see my earlier drawings of him, you'll know what I'm talking about. I'm still not consistent with Leon's face and it does take a while to get a hang. I do a lot of early sketches before I get it to have resemblance.

But this is one major advice that I can give and it can be applied to any character that you want to draw: learn how to observe the character visually and answer the question "what makes a Leon look like Leon?" I posted similar tips for a couple of characters in the past: Link 1, Link 2. So basically, the more you observe, the more you will get it right.

Here's my usual process:

I got this photo from the game and tried to determine the major stuff about his face and the minor stuff that I can add. Do take note that you don't have to add every detail to get the sketch looking like Leon:

And then, I try my best to translate whatever I observed into messy sketching before I go for the final sketch:

I usually have my reference open on my phone on one hand or on my laptop, and then I draw on my tablet, it's better for me to have the reference at some distance and not on the same screen. Having it on the phone is handy because I can zoom into some details if I need to.

Notice that I don't apply everything I observed. I try not to sketch a carbon copy, I just try to emphasize the major characterstics in there. It's not a guarrantee that you will get it the first time, it takes time and a lot of practice (and obsessing over the features lol). I didn't get it right in my earlier sketches because I haven't had that amount of time observing and listing down more of his features.

Also, always observe other references, not just one even though you're just gonna use one mainly.

Well I don't like how it feels. I don't feel cleaner without body hair. I don't prefer not having body hair. But who will advocate for women like me, but me? For women who do like hair removal, they are advocated for every time they step out of the house and see 99% of the female population also conforming to that standard, or when they watch a movie and see all the shaved actresses, or view an advertisment, or open a magazine, or watch a music video, or scroll through social media, or walk down the streets without receiving insults and glares for having a completely normal bodily feature.

Columbina was attempting to go home, when Dottore intercepted their journey (and even put her in a cube..). And then Aether couldnt reach her in time before she was separated from him.

Just like how his and Lumine’s departure to ‘home’ was intercepted by Asmoday. Just like how Lumine was put in a cube, and he couldnt save her before he was separated from him.

Hell, he literally called both their names, and his fight seemed to start to faded when it was clear he wasnt getting them back. (Aether went FOR Columbina this time, when he only reached for Lumine. I think the fsct he didnt the first time haunts him, because he ALWAYS tries to reach out now.)

Theres already been hints of Aether seeing himself in Columbina, with how neither is able to return home, how both are weakened. Hell even with the name thing! Columbina didnt care what she was called, Aether doesnt care what he’s called. He’s known as Traveler by literally everyone in Teyvat (Asides Lumine, and supposedly Dain and Paimon since they’ve heard his name said by Lumine.) and called many nicknames, such as ‘cutie’ ‘partner’ ‘Tumaini’.

Honestly i kinda hope Aether tells Columbina his name in the next patch. Would it be really fucking fanservicey? Yes. Am i prepared for the backlash? Yes.

Would it also make alot of thematic sense?

Yes!!

Just like Columbina had no name that tied her to the world, Traveler doesnt either. Tumaini & The Traveler are both titles, like how Kuutar and The Damselette are both titles.

Columbina was given ties to Teyvat/reality by the fact she’s Columbina to her friends.

Aether is merely the Traveler to his. The only person he’s Aether to is Lumine. The only person he’s tied to is Lumine. Thus far in Nod-Krai, theres been a reoccurring theme of Aether’s focus being shifted away from Lumine.

Aether was the one to find and ultimately tie Columbina back to reality. Thematically, it makes sense she’d be the first to learn the Traveler’s true name.

With all the parallels happening with them- each other, rerir & tholindis, the viatwins, hell probably fucking like koitar and the voyager, the moons & morning star- idk. It just. It feels right.
