okay so some of these songs were released under hayden's previous aliases but they are usually taken down now so i count them as unreleased. i split it into two parts, the ship's boys and some of my fav ABs. put my shipping goggles on for this one lol (it's the first playlist i made for this event, and my favourite).
SIDE A: the ship's boys
1. hospital beds (tommy evans) – linked to william strong's since 1) i am fond of them as a pairing and 2) they basically died together. also the insane intimacy of having the half of your corpse linked to the half of someone else's. tuunbaq was fujoshing out with them.

3. age of delilah (david young) – fuck american teenager, THIS is the coming of age anthem. i've had to physically restrain myself from editing him on it. and yes, the "suffocate myself" part is a nod to him choking on his own blood. he was just a baby :((

5. churchyard (thomas hartnell) – this is tied to magnus'. i was thinking of making a separate edit of them both with dust bowl but then i realised she is no longer my unreleased queen 😔😔 anyway. it's sad. they all are.

it's the second day of the @cold-boy-tapes event, modded by the lovely @bell-swamp-fitzjames! here's my take on a playlist for a modern Tozer's commute — specifically, a modern Tozer that's a part of my AU project with @bossboo where Little runs a record store.

drabble/context:
none of this is particularly spoiler-y when it comes to the main plot of the Record Store AU, but here's what i had in mind when i put this together:
in this AU, Tozer works as a firefighter in the same city where Ned runs his shop, Colossal Records. after meeting Ned, Tozer starts frequenting the shop more and more. he's not much of a music guy at all, really; he likes what he likes, but doesn't think much of it. he doesn't even fully realize how much there is to know about music until he hangs around the shop, and sees Ned (and Tom Hartnell, who also works at Colossal!) in his element.
in the process of the two getting to know each other, Tozer tries to make it seem like he knows more about music than he actually does by looking up bands, Shazam-ing lyrics and songs, etc. to keep up with conversation (this is not an attempt to impress Ned or to have an excuse to talk to him or anything like that. why would he want to do that + don't think about it too hard + whatever). Ned also starts keeping a mental log of what sorts of songs Sol likes when he's around the shop (once again. nothing to see here. it's very normal to keep track of every single time a particular person compliments the records you play over the shop speakers, actually), and then this playlist of recommendations is born. Little definitely doesn't let on how much consideration he's put into making the tracklist and testing the transitions between each song. Sol definitely doesn't tell Ned that it's turned into his go-to for his commute.
(shoutout to Hartnell, by the way, who inevitably helps Ned share this playlist with Sol.)
