Defenders of Berk after reading the HTTYD books.
Episode 3 reminds me of the beginning of Book 8, the whole being there for a completely different reason and finding an enemy there thing.
Both Episode 4 and 14 for some reason remind me of the Sharkworm and Exterminator attacks.
Astrid's main inspiration being Camicazi feels more apparent in Episode 6, like, of course Camicazi would go after a dragon like that, for really no reason either.
Episode 7, YO THEY GET HUNTING DRAGONS!!! Would've been a fun nod to call Hiccup's Terrible Terror Wodensfang, but alright... This is probably one of the more blatant references to the books, with Hiccup having a green red (Or orange, I can't tell) TT.
The way they show how powerful the Screaming Death is in Episodes 8, 19 and 20 really reminds me of how Furious just shows up randomly sometimes like "WHERE THE FUCK IS THAT 14 YEAR OLD I'M TRYING TO KILL?!"
Episode 12 QUIT PLAYING WITH MY EMOTIONS
Episode 16, while not really close, does still feel a bit inspired by Book 4 with needing to find a cure for a sickness.
Episode 17, Okay there's no way Johann wasn't a secret villain from the start. You're telling me he didn't search through a bunch of scrap metal he got from Berserkers of all people?
Episode 19, STOP PLAYING WITH MY HEART, SNOTLOUT!
Episode 20, Man, Alvin is cool and all, but I just feel so disappointed with what we could've had. The Screaming Death does feel like how Furious was defeated, peacefully.
These two episodes making the parallel to Snotlout and Hiccup with Alvin and Stoick is a fun adaptation of the comparison of Snotlout and Grimbeard, and I like how Snotlout is kinda influenced by Alvin like he is in the books, except it's not for an evil reason here.
Beyond that stuff, I'm so happy to see Hiccup and Fishlegs paired up so much! Although I do feel a bit annoyed with Astrid kinda taking Fishlegs' role as Hiccup's best friend. They're supposed to be romantic and all, I get it, but come on! Fishlegs is supposed to be Hiccup's day one!
If I missed anything, let me know. Next up is the first season of Race To The Edge!
