As for the question, if we are looking at how the society treated Nya in Canon due to her gender only, then I think Kai wouldn't have those problems at all. He'd most likely be accepted almost immediately, already surrounded with fangirls and fanboys for his looks and whatever else his Canon self was popular for. He feels kind of guilty about it towards his sister, but at the same time he enjoyed his final recognition.

Alright, first of all, the question if Kai would be in Nya's place with all the Nadakhan marriage drama:

It depends on what ship it is I think. If someone ships plasma, you could easily take Kai in Nya's place and have Nadakhan want to marry Kai instead. But then the question on WHY Nadakhan would want to do that comes into the mind.

He wanted Nya in Canon because of how similar she looked to Delara, and Kai looks NOTHING like her. So either he sees him as a reincarnation of sort for his old lover, or he just went bonkers in the head and would marry the first person he sees in order to get the power of infinite wishes.

Now if we look at the Canon ship, Jaya, then Skybound would most likely stay ALMOST the same in the Swap AU.

Like in Canon, Nya still meets the public opinions on what role she should be playing as the only "girl ninja" despite being the master of fire for 5 seasons prior already. Reporters, interviewers, and all the others were more interested in who she would choose as her partner among the ninja rather than her own interests and actual position as one of the OG four.

This creates a mindset of hers to see love as a distraction in her career. She knows of Jay's feelings for her and how they are supposedly meant to be, and she tried to sternly make her boundaries clear with him that she was NOT ready for such a relationship until her name was clear.

Then the events of Skybound itself. They fight, the others get captured, she gets kidnapped as the bride (with more resistance and fight as she got more experience here) and blabla. Then the venom, the final wish and the reverse of the events.

AFTER those events though, Nya finally realized she doesn't have to care what the world thinks of her. She should make her own way and her own image, and the others could go fuck themselves for all she cared. Jay was finally also starting to see from her view, more understanding dawning upon him.

I'm not exactly sure if they would get immediately together after this or if Nya would need some time to rethink everything again, but be assured that by Season 7 they're set. Maximum season 8. Who knows.

Now for Kai's own struggles. He didn't have any problem fitting into the team actually after being announced as the water ninja. He was liked almost immediately, gathering his own fangirls and fanboys and quickly getting the title of the looks of the team.

His struggles come more from his title itself. "Master of water". An element and title he quite literally doesn't feel a connection to, but is told by Wu that it was his actual destiny. So while he forces himself to carry out the title, he doesn't feel any satisfaction in it.

While this season wouldn't be really Smith siblings centered, it's also not a bad thing. It would give both insights to how Nya and Kai deal with their own problems, and how Jaya's relationship gets to a healthier level after lots of misunderstandings and different mindsets.

While analyzing the season and Nya's character, I came upon this essay about her character development. A good read to be honest for those who hate her for unnecessary reason.

Now for the reactions!

Canon -> AU

Everyone would probably be up against a more persistent and hot headed version of Kai, as Kai is much calmer in the SWAP AU than in Canon. I drew them in the timeline somewhere after crystallized but before the merge, so Canon Kai is over his fear of water, but he still doesn't like the feeling of it, so he'd be freaked out about the change of powers in his system but then calm down afterwards.

OH also, since I like to think that Canon Kai has a higher body temperature than normal people, he'd be FREEZING in SWAP! Kai's body, so he'd probably tuck himself into hundred layers of blankets and then pass out lmfao

AU -> Canon

Now for this perspective, the others would freak out that Kai is acting more "smart" and "calm" oit of the sudden. They know he's smart in his own sense ofcourse, but not in the literal mathematics and engineering way, so that would be new.

But if looking at the questions now, I do agree that the lack of their relationship and skylor herself makes me MADDDD ASF

In the SWAP AU Kai would probably be more stable than his Canon self, and also being raised by Nya would change a few aspects of his character too, like not being a playboy TOO much and actually consider your relationship with someone.

In Canon these two had their disagreements and fights and misunderstandings, mostly on kai's part I think? With how he can close off or not contact her for a long time or how he values his ninja role very much.

(And his grief after seabound ofc)

So here they would be able to talk over stuff better, they have more time with each other (since Kai is the one who stayed with Lloyd and the other elemental masters in Season 9), so they would probably be more "healthy" too

As for what the others think of Skylor, I'm pretty sure the same way as in Canon with no drastic changes.

As for Kailor, the others support it from the moment Skylor got into their side. As Kai is one of the youngest, that also makes a subject the others, especially Cole and Jay, tease him about.

"Ohhh little lad got a girlfriend!"

And such teasings, you get it.
