Appreciation post for all of the Whump GIF blogs who bless us with increíble, quality whump for our viewing pleasure. Truly, the amount of shows/ movies I’ve been put on—no matter what genre or country they’re from—just for their whump scenes is astounding.

I have tried making GIF’s before of whump and it’s definitely not my forte 🙈. You’re all so cool and talented, not to mention being angels for giving so much information about the media you’re posting, so we don’t have to scavenge for it ourselves fruitlessly.

my joints have been hurting for the last two weeks? sucks, but useful for writing my OCs that have chronic pain.

had to go to hospital? double sucks, but i now know what an ambulance ride is like and what it's like to have an iv!!!! invaluable experiences for medical whump fics.

Especially with the queer coding. He honestly seems like he's gay and deeply repressed. It's like his people pleasing tendencies have bled into every aspect of his life. ESPECAILLY his dating and sex life. And it's shaped his idea of What A Man Is Supposed To Be. e.g have a wife, sex life, perfect furniture, nice condo etc etc

He seems to not have a clear idea of who he is outside of fixing others and being a provider. Its literally addressed in canon that that's the reason he married so many times and why he's a doctor and why he can't buy furniture. He fixes broken people because he can't fix himself.

Even his wives said that he's great in bed because "no one works harder than James to give a woman what she needs"

He's so repressed, it makes sense that he doesn't seem to consider himself and his needs in that regard. Especially if he's not even sure if asexuality is possible (s8e9)

Roleplay common conversations/interactions!!! It might seem stupid, but when you order a coffee in Korea you can't just say "I want a coffee", they will ask you "hot or cold? to drink here or to take out?". The first time it happened I was totally thrown off! If you notice that you are having the same conversation often, it's worth it to learn by heart both the questions and the possible answers.

Definitely improve your listening comprehension skills. Through miming and your output abilities you will manage to communicate what you want to say). But that's useless if you can't understand what the other person says in response.

At the beginning, I felt embarrassed when talking to shopkeepers, because my Korean was so terrible. Then a friend of mine (who had lived to China) told me that the shopkeepers were probably also embarrassed that they couldn't speak English, so I decided to stop worrying about it.

On the same note, giving up from time to time and just using Google Translate is not something to be ashamed of. You need to survive.

When abroad, it's really easy to only interact with other foreigners and not practice the local language at all, except for at the grocery store etc. So if you think that might happen (for example, if there will be other foreign teachers like you in the school), make a concerted effort to go to places where you will meet only locals and force yourself to speak in French to them from the start, or you'll never be able to escape English.
