In Italia migliaia di donne non possono accedere alla PMA. Attivati con noi per cambiare la legge.
(PMA: Procreazione medicalmente assistita)

Meine Doktorat Bewerbung was abgelehnt... Das ist ein bisschen traurig aber ich bin auch erleichtert. Ich muss nicht studieren für die Mündliche Prüfung. Yaaay!

so metropolitan museum of art has a register of books they’ve published that are out of print and that you can download for free! they’re mostly books on art, archeology, architecture, fashion and history and i just think that’s super useful and interesting so i wanted to share! you can find all of the books available here!
01.07.2026 || Had a not so good day at work. Very busy + one of the students basically insulted me (obv via email, the little mongrels would never dare face to face).
Kids, be kind to administrative employees, even if they take a couple of days to answer your emails. They are probably understaffed and overworked. If you act like an asshole to them, you'll just cringe hard at your behavior after you yourself start working.
I've been keeping a list of the objects I've bought/received as a gift starting in January. I'll go through it as part of my mid-year check in.
In total, I got 49 objects, of which 6 were gifts or free samples and 8 I got through Vinted.
Please note: this is not to encourage overconsumption. I'm actually very surprised I got to this many objects in 6 months! I'm keeping track of this to avoid overconsumption and maybe go on a no buy next year. Also keep in mind that I'm young, have few things and therefore the stuff I buy is stuff I need and think about a lot before getting.
Categories
They can be divided in roughly 6 categories:
Skincare etc: 15
Clothes and accessories: 13
Stuff for my room: 8
Hobbies: 6
Miscellaneous: 4
Books: 3
Reflections: I did NOT expect to have gotten this much skincare. But looking back I got 4 different sunscreens in rapid succession cause I couldn't find the right one + 5 free samples/gifts, so it makes sense (I am going to use ALL of this up too. Not surprised about clothes, because I have a really small wardrobe that I need to rimpolpare. I'm surprised that books is so low, but also glad tbh. Hobbies and miscellaneous is fine.
Favs and Nos:
And now the most interesting part! My favourite acquisitions and regrets.
Favourites:
Laundry hamper (from Vinted). I keep it in my room to throw clothes I need to hand-wash in. No more piles on the floor! Also it's super cute :)
This little save-cable from Legami in the shape of a capybara.
Green jacket from Uniqlo. Makes me feel really cool when I wear it lol.
Little plastic thing to block the selfie camera on my phone and another for my pc webcam too.
Needle minder (from Vinted). A life saver when I cross-stitch.
Regrets:
One cute cable organizer. I wish I had got the 5-pack of sturdy organizers instead.
Cardigan. I had a gift card for years and I finally used it. But the size is a little too small. I decided not to change it thinking I'd lose weight but that's not going to happen. Haven't worn it once :/
Dyptique candle. I decided to buy one to celebrate my first payday ever. I don't exactly regret buying one because I've wanted one for a couple of years and it was an interesting experience. But I don't really like the scent I picked TT I really don't smell the expensiveness guys.
Broken charging cable. I bought a 6€ cable at Tiger to save money and it broke the moment I walked outside the store. So I had to buy a 20€ one anyway.
Pop mart statuette. I bought 2 and while I like them both, I could have avoided the second one (15€!).
What I've learnt: pick clothes in your current size; stick to cheap scented candles but buy expensive cables; never step foot inside a Pop mart ever again.
The future
49 objects is a LOT. Thankfully I'm also reorganizing/decluttering and sold 14 objects through Vinted. I thought I was being careful enough, but maybe I should pay even more attention to how much stuff I bring into my home... Not counting the skincare, that's 34 items that will potentially never leave my house or at least stay for years and years...
I won't put any limits to the second half of the year because I just want to see how it goes, but I already have 2 Vinted things on their way so I should maybe slow down a little.

Since I've accomplished some things and let go of others, I decided to update my goals for 2026. Somehow they feel even more ambitious than the ones from January TT
Serious goals
Get a permanent job. Keep applying to concorsi.
German. Get better at grammar (finish Grammar Aktiv), Schreiben (?) and learning songs (?) + keep watching ViB
Save a set quantity of money every month from my pay.
Health: figure out why I'm tired all the time (working on it) + take an allergy test + get vaccine.
Fitness: do 3 workouts a week, maybe go up to 4 after I get comfortable with this. I can’t do the same kind of workout twice a week (unless it’s walking 10k steps) + do meditation daily (it helps me fall asleep lol) + try reformer pilates!
Photos: create a physical photo album and AFTERWARDS declutter videos.
Read: 6/12 books from my physical or online TBR list + 1 book of poetry
Finish writing 50k words OR all ff planned (3/?).
Korean: Watch 18 podcast episodes (3 per month).
Miscellaneous goals
Brew tea 50 times (23/50). If I start again in September, that means twice a week. This goal has led me to develop an appreciation for tea :)
Complete cross stitch kit + start the second one.
Sew summer dress. I have the fabric and pattern, I just need to gather the courage to cut the pieces TT.
Make jigsaw puzzle and hang it in my room.
Reach Perfection in Stardew Valley. I’m currently at 54%. I want to reach this before 1.7 comes out, so I’ll play weekly to get there.
Room improvement. Reorganize first drawer of closet and library + declutter desk drawers + put all the books, clothes and shoes I want to sell on Vinted!
ProjectPan. Finish nail oil and 1 hair oil.
Watch 60 movies, so 10 per month. I’m overwhelmed by my TBW and I have watched 50 movies this year so far, so it should be doable.
Finish watching kdramas (1/13).
Draw 3 portraits.
Lower my screentime. I hope to get to an average of 2 hours per day one day. Currently I’m around 4/3.5 hours per day. I’ll check my screentime usage weekly and react accordingly.
Start knitting vest (in September).
I'd like to eat less meat. I can't go vegan bc of stuff, so I'd like to become at least a bit flexitarian, introduce a vegetarian/vegan day per week.
Goals on my calendar
July: ask about pilates class + sew summer dress + draw portrait + book vaccine
August: opera trip + buy photo album
September: start making tea again + blood tests + draw portrait + plan allergy test + knit vest
October: ?
November: go to my city's film festival + draw portrait
December: visit my city's book fair for the first time!
I understand the systemic issues we have under capitalism (while I live in a town where I *can* get around by bike, I know many people don't have that luxury), but there ARE things we can do as individuals.
Throwing up your hands and saying "it's systemic there's nothing I can do" is, in some cases, a form of doomerism.
This is especially true when you look at the diet of USAmericans. You can eat more plant-based meals. You don't need to go vegan! You don't need to go vegetarian! Just start cutting back.
Try Meatless Monday.
Try cooking with tofu.
Try using oat or almond milk.
Try out a new vegetarian meal.
Don't look at it as not eating meat, look at it as an incentive to try some new recipes that you wouldn't have tried otherwise.
Consumers have quite a bit of power, especially when it comes to things like groceries and restaurant meals. And like with riding a bike, the more people do it the more normalized it becomes and the easier it gets!
