I’m currently rereading fugitive telemetry and I noticed how annoyed MB gets about humans patronizing and disrespecting bots. That’s totally fair and a valid concern of course, but this concern is not at all reflective of MB‘s own attitude towards those bots.

MB often feels annoyed by those bots and generally looks down on them. It is shaking its head about their names (interesting coming from Murderbot), expresses that it doesn’t need any input from „free bots“ when they are trying to be helpful and oftentimes refers to bots as „the bot“, when in the same breath it mentions all humans by name.

It really has some stuff to unpack there. It certainly is right to point out that even Preservation humans are somewhat biased against bots, but it definitely should also reflect its own biases. I think regarding biases against other SecUnits, it makes so much progress during the book series, but it would be interesting how this changes its attitude towards bots. (I think MB at least likes bot pilots well enough (even other bot pilots that ART)

#interesting how it likes bot pilots #the one bots who dont seem to directly interact with humans #and the ones who dont have vaguely huminoid bodies #hmmmmm #mb and its biases are SO interesting #and theyre SO intense tol #too*#it seems to expect every “free bot” to be as assholey and miserable as it is #theres just *no way* jollybaby chose its name #theres *no way* it actually likes its job #because if mb is miserable even now that its free any bot who isnt free and miserable must be pretending for the sake of the humans #because thats what IT did for so long #and to some degree still feels like it has to do #very interesting stuff

The majority of Project: Hail Mary crossover fics I have seen seem to be with the Markiplier Iron Lung, but has anyone considered P:HM crossing with the Murderbot Diaries?

I don't have anything more than a flash of MB reacting to the existence of actual aliens as might be expected (fear, horror etc) but then Grace does something typically Grace and Rocky moans about "Why humans stupid question?" And MB stops in shock and looks at Rocky. Finally, someone who understands about the humans, even if they do have five arms and look like a rock.
