I feel like I am in a bad dream. My mother is in ICU, and we have some difficult decisions ahead of us. My anxiety is right there, lingering and ready to pounce. Finally back at the gym!👊🏼❤️ I was nervous because I hadn’t been to this location before, then I remembered that I didn’t know anyone there and I don’t care what anyone thinks. 😜 I just threw my headphones on and ran. Unfortunately this didn’t capture my whole workout since there is a 20 minute preset on the machine, but I still crushed it. I plan on lifting weights tomorrow for the first time in a LONG time. I am living proof that anything is possible. When your fear and doubt kicks in, when that mean person inside your head tells you it’s impossible or you won’t ever do it, DON’T LISTEN!! You can do it. Whatever it is, whatever you want to accomplish, just get out and try. Doubt and fear kill more dreams than failure ever could. I truly believed running a 5k was impossible for me. At one point, I believed I couldn’t run 7 minutes straight. Here I am in my forties and at my heaviest weight ever, and I’ve run over 14 5Ks and one 10K since O started the couch to 5k program over a year and a half ago. I’m not the fastest, but I never quit. I believe in you. Pancake Run 5k. 🏃🏻‍♀️🥞It’s my first live race this year and I have to say, it felt great. I was nervous because I hadn’t trained at all, I haven’t been able to run since December due to illness and I’m generally nervous when I don’t know the course or what to expect. So I didn’t set a timer, I stretched and centered myself, then I went out there to have fun, and have fun I did. 😝 I came in at about 47 minutes and felt amazing crossing that finish line. So when you start to doubt yourself or worry about your pace or finishing time, don’t. Just get out there and have fun!! I hid my anxiety for over 25 years for fear of judgement and the belief that there was something wrong with me. When you have a rough day and you’re just glad that it’s over. I know that sounds awful because time is precious, but sometimes there is only so much weight my shoulders can take. . Yesterday, I advised my son to take a different approach with a bully at school. I told him to offer to be his friend, to see if he needed a hug or just someone to talk to. It worked and he was so happy/relieved. Then today he gets punched in the face by the kid. :( My mother has to go through chemotherapy again and is worried about paying for treatment. She can’t even focus on getting better because of the financial problems that arise from having cancer. FAILURE. FAILURE. FAILURE!!! This is what I feel like amidst the congestion, headache and chills. It screams inside my head how weak I am and how I should’ve been able to “suck it up” and “tough it out” and get my ass to the race. . I sit here utterly embarrassed and humiliated. I made such a big deal about today and crossing that finish line, and I couldn’t even get to the start line. I’m angry and defeated. Why today of all days? I had been battling this all week, keeping it at bay, and then it hits the night before my big race?? What should’ve been a great day filled with achievement and happiness is now filled with depression and regret. And living with regret sucks!! . Then the mean girl inside me keeps laughing and telling me she knew I couldn’t do it. She knew I would fail. I really cannot put her in her place because I do agree with her.
