just saw a 'comments' tab on someones blog you know where the following and likes tabs would be if enabled and it was just showing all the replies theyve made on peoples posts. this is fascinating when did this feature come out
EMERGENCY - ITS AUTO ENABLED!
if you've made replies on posts there is now a tab on your blog showing every post youve replied to and your reply.
if this is not what you want, either go to your blog and click comments and disable it from there or just go to your individual blogs setting pages. just change it from blue to grey if you dont want everyone to see your replies AND the post you're replying to
PLEASE BE ADVISED that it is set to disabled for blogs that have not made any replies but it will turn ON if you reply with that blog in the future.! i just tested it with my main, which was greyed out but it turned on the moment i left a test reply
figured i'd get the word out bc i have not seen a single mention of this and i'm sure there are plenty of people who maybe comment on things they don't want on display for everyone to see on their blog lol. you can still look at your replies with it toggled off just no one else can, like locking the following and likes list
so for some reason this feature was actually announced on the tumblr engineering blog. interesting choice not to reblog it to the staff or tumblr blog, esp considering they asked for user input on how to implement it, but i suppose considering the response to the last update maybe the replies would be too overwhelming...
so couple of clarifications. comments are disabled as default for primary blogs that have their likes disabled. they are seemingly enabled for all other blogs that have replied to posts
posts you comment on may show on your followers 'for you' page if you leave your replies publically available. they may, in the future, show in on your followers dashboard if your follower goes to their dash settings and enables this. apparently, if your likes are enabled, your followers can already see those on the dash if they've gone into preferences and selected to do so, which I was unaware of, and that seems to be disabled at default, but it's possible i disabled it previously and forgot about it ig

OK lads but. Why is the r slur coming back. It's 2026. Why am I hearing so many of The Youth use this word liberally and at whim. Do you need me to ground you. Do I need to sit you on the naughty step. Do you need me to strap you into the Learning Chair and deliver a 4 hour lecture about the history of the r slur, ableism, and why using that word is neither big nor cool. Or do you just need me to punch you in the mouth.
It's not coming back. It never left. The only difference is more self proclaimed neurodivergent people are trying to justify using it online because they are "reclaiming" it. Despite the fact that it was never theirs to reclaim to begin with.
That's not true. Many people have added comments to this post along the lines of 'lol it never left', and I understand the urge to be flippant, but I think it's actually very disingenuous to pretend that we're not seeing a vast increase in its usage. It may not have disappeared completely, but I, An Old, went a solid 15 years without hearing it even once, and now I see it fairly consistently online and have heard it used IRL on multiple occasions. At no point in these real life instances was it used in an (ill-advised) attempt at reclaiming it; it was a solid 'that thing is r------- and it sucks' derogatory context. I think we're burying our heads in the sand about the potentially troubling reasons for its resurgence when we pretend that this has been the case all along. It absolutely hasn't.
The oldest living tree ever found was a pine named “Prometheus.” It had been alive since before the Egyptian pyramids were built. Some guy cut it down in 1964. Source
he was actually a forestry graduate student who was doing research on bristlecone pines (Pinus langaevea) and got his increment borer stuck in the tree. this tool costs almost $800, so he asked the forest service if he could cut down the tree to recover the tool. after cutting it down, it became apparent that the tree was actually the oldest living organism. ever. (around 8,000 years old). so, not just some asshole. the guy feels extremely guilty and has even broken down in tears during an interview about the accident
OH MY GOD SO LET ME TELL YOU A STORY
So after the grad student cut down the tree and discovered it was the oldest tree in the world he quit studying forestry and went to study salt flats (can’t cut down the oldest trees in the world on salt flats no siree none of that happening) and he was being interviewed about his research, but in the middle of the interview the reporter just stops and says “wait aren’t the guy that…”
And he just takes off running. Literally. Turns around and runs across the salt flats away from the interview and I feel so bad for him but I can’t help but start crying I’m laughing so hard about it imagine a guy high tailing it across salt flats away from a dude with a recorder
its so different to know it was an accident and that NO ONE was aware until after. its not like this was one ignorant guy cutting down a fucking relic.
my personal take on the matter
My favorite part of any discussion of kink is when someone is like "EUGH WHAT, HUH, PEOPLE ARE INTO THAT? I DON'T THINK SO, THAT CAN'T BE NORMAL" which is the kind of kneejerk response that contributes nothing to the discussion itself but functions as a signal to others (and, primarily, oneself) that their sexualities are so middle-of-the-road that even the imagined notion of outré sexual practices is mind-boggling.
It's weird to me because it shows your engagement isn't really intellectual but you also clearly felt the need to follow along the post out of prurient curiosity anyway without being able to help that hindbrain part of you that's like "I'M NOT ONE OF THESE GUYS I'M NOT." Deeply revealing and not in the way I think most people leaving such comments intend. Screams less "Hohoho whoa there, I'm a NORMAL part of sexually healthy society" and more "I fully believe there is an infectious element to taboo sex and I am terrified of being affiliated with you and becoming tainted by you, which I've already risked by reading this far into your post"
(It also doesn't escape me that most of the time these posts aren't even about kink on its own, it's how things are "fun and light-hearted" when applied to one subset of the population that does certain sexual practices openly and at the same time become weapons in the hands of transmisogynists. But people don't care enough of about trans women to register the argument being made and will just see mention of again, the salacious fetishes in question, and will immediately go BUT IT'S NOT OKAY. YOU'RE ASKING ME TO ACCEPT THIS AND I SIMPLY WON'T like okay. Not really sure who you're talking to at this point because it isn't OP and I suspect you are conversing out loud with a jury existing in your head)
Andre 3000’s “ 47 Messages “ Jumpsuits for the OutKast Reunion Tour in 2013. Every night he wore a different jumpsuit with a conversation starting message printed displayed on the front of it. In his own words, he said that he thought the fashion statement ( quite literally ) could act in a progressive manner, aiding socio-cultural concerns.
All 47 jumpsuits went on to be displayed in a gallery at The Savannah College of Art during Art Basel Miami. These jumpsuits also went on to spark a collection of t-shirts with the same messages. [ x ]

almost time
once you realize how much everyone fucking loves age- and incest-play you'll go even more insane when they tell you to join their campaign to run transgender woman #487324 off the internet (where she gets her income) for her incest kink or whatever
it really is Our Righteous "pouting and throwing a cute tantrum at my partner to get what i want", "daddy/mommy", "old man yaoi", and a long etc v. their villainous "calling her partner 'little sis'" to encourage sexual abuse of children or smth
straight people especially LOVE ageplay have you ever seen them interact. it is like their main thing.
and not like it is important but since i sometimes see that thrown around: they love doing it in public too, and i don't mean in an obscure tumblr blog (theyre straight) but at. the store in front of 20 people. again, it is one of their main things.
i'm not saying anything that hasn't been said before but i'm just thinking about how common and rendered-invisible by normalization it is to see a straight couple where the woman playfully acts like a little girl sometimes for whatever reason and it's. fine. and i of course don't mean they should leave it in the bedroom or whatever i'm not christian, i'm saying it's so overt but of course it's fine when non-transmisogynized people do it. they have never harmed children in any way obviously.
…people like that shit?
people trying to be cute in the notes of this post (not just in this rb, either) is actually extremely annoying. oh you're a poor wittle baby who couldn't possibly know that "teen" and "(M/D)ILF" porn are some of the most popular things straight people wank to? is it your first time using the internet and/or going outside? like come on, i know i'm being harsh here, but this way of distancing yourself from it (and using a memeified image to show how you find it strange and icky) is just another way of signaling "i'm one of the good ones who would NEVER like such perverted things" which is literally just one step removed from the harassment i'm talking about. for the love of god, grow up.
