its been just one day since Brysko and Tau city announcement and Im already thinking endlessly of putting the frames into Film Noir
aka detective Brysko and the group of frames as different characters in a noir city setting:
Two kingpins and their own ship smuggling rings fighting for territories non-stop (Sevagoth & Hydroid)
Former henchmen of seva and hydroid separately, now secretly form together and serve as underground information dealer (GaussGrendel)
Hitwoman abandoned the corrupted police forces and becomes the vigilante working on breaking down the mobster rings (Mesa)
Top singer of the night club with her secret grotesque art collection (Follie - I think her design is inspired by sth similar to that?)
Priest reclused in the deserted church yet got tangled into the whole net of crimes due to his unknown past (Harrow)
yes Im making Film Noir AU in my head rn. my mind was Trained for this
"I'm just happy people are reading"
Well, I'm not. Reading didn't get its reputation as a way to increase intelligence and language skills by books being nonsense. Yet get 0 points for reading porn slop. We're in a stupidity crises. Snobbery and pretension are survival tools now. Everyone tighten the fuck up.
I never even tried to read classic literature
Be embarrassed by that.
It's just too difficult
Get smarter.
I find it boring
It's because you're stupid. Develop the taste
They're all white
I don't care. Also, shut up- it's not like you're reading classic African literature either, which you could easily Google and get access to btw.
I have a disability/ I'm poor/ I have trauma/ I dont have time
If you can read social media posts, have 12 hours of screen time and accessed normal public schooling you can read real books. Stop looking for an excuse.
You could start off with classics of Children's Literature.
The Chronicles of Narnia
The Hobbit
The Secret Garden - Frances Hodgeson Burnett
The Railway Children - Enid Nesbit
The Princess and the Goblins - George MacDonald
These are a good start, and the good news is that these authors have other great stories as well.
(I'm currently in the middle of George MacDonald's 'At The Back of The North Wind'.)
Yes, these are all British. But there will be plenty of children's classics from across the world if that suits you better.
Fandom Problem #7937:
I hate how writers can't produce male characters without audiences acting like it's some kind of commentary on all real-life men.
No, the main villain is not a commentary on men. He is literally evil because that's what a villain is.
No, a male character not handling rejection is not the writers saying no man can handle rejection. He's literally fictional and one male character.
Please go outside.
Fandom Problem #7122:
"Wait... male fans have fictional crushes!? A male fan wrote this well-written fanfiction!?"
Fandoms are full of so many naive takes, but this is certainly on that long list. Male fans are just fans like everyone else and shouldn't receive scrutiny on the basis of being male.
Seriously, the majority of male fans are just vibing. And have interests like fanart and fanfics like other fans. Please stop seeing who you have the chance to bully and instead recognize all bullying is wrong.
Dehumanizing randos is gross. And even grosser when a lot of fandoms have minors and they shouldn't be seen as targets just because they are male.
That’s so real
Especially if it’s a weird/“cringe” concept

I'd say this is an anomaly but seriously roos are sometimes nosy and just need to be in your business, OR they will fight you if you look at them funny. I love them, they're great, but they make little sense.
The fucking horror I felt in my soul of the 3 seconds it took to try to and work out what the fuck this animal was
Something I like about depictions of Jax if reverted from being Abstracted is that there's usually elements that still were never fully healed.
Because certain events leave scars. Sometimes they're visible, sometimes they're not, but they're still a part of what makes you, *you.*
And that's okay.
Fandom Problem #15,380:
People really need to stop with the 'I made it better!' stuff. I get not liking how certain works are made. I get thinking stuff is poorly made. I get it. I've done it too.
But for christ's sake, you guys prove Sturgeon's Law absolutely correct. You can't just take a sledgehammer to a story, shove a bunch of unrelated concepts into it and just expect it to work out. You don't make a series about the dangers of advancing tech into one about friendship and hope, a series about heroism and doing what is right and then have the heroes hang out with a canonical sociopath and a story about the joys of adventure and self improvement into a shitty YA novel.
And then they get upset because fans start bitching them out. And it ends up as super hypocritical because they'll always go 'critics are always right!'
You choose this. You choose to garner an audience based on circlejerking about how bad the OG series is. You can take it when the piper demands his pay.
Your Breakthrough
this scene is so powerful! I’m speechless...

Whenever Americans use Cryillic like. That. I just. Instantly shrivel up an cry
Like idk how to tell you this but н isnt h and и isnt n
It’s true and you should say it.
Я isnt R
Р isnt P
В isnt B
If you want to explain, what does it mean then? 0.0
н makes n sound,и makes ee sound, я makes ya sound, р makes r sound, в makes v sound
you mean, like, ня?
oh no. It can be made with Cyrillic now
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE, YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE EXPLAINED
OH. GOD.
THATS SO FUNNY
Fandom Problem #15,225:
A lot of people in modern fandom are weirdly hostile towards straight people and this usually comes from people who are the most vocal about tolerance, inclusion, and acceptance.
Not only is having worldbuilding threads that are mentioned once and never picked up again not a flaw in fantasy media, I'd go so far as to say that a lack of such threads is a flaw. If everything ties up in one neat little package, you're missing the point of fantasy worldbuilding. Like, don't do it on every page, or your setting is going to be an overstuffed mess, but every so often you are not only allowed but obligated to casually drop some utterly batshit worldbuilding detail and then just never follow up on it. Maybe some rocks are sentient. You don't owe your reader an explanation. Just fucking go for it.
We really fucked up when we made checkov's gun mandatory instead of just a high recommendation.
Chekov's gun not chekov's armory
There's a thing called conservation of detail- everything you put in your story must be there for a *reason.*
And reminder, *establishing the setting* is a perfectly valid reason.
There is an SRW/Mass Effect fanfic I'm writing where every single race has mecha. There's thought put into it, yes, but I don't make it plot-important.
Case in point, the fact that Krogans basically use Mortar Headds is something I will never actually follow up on.
"you can't pick and choose what you like from canon" common misconception! yes you can
but please do not get this very true concept confused with “you cannot pick and choose what is canon”
they are two very different things.
thank you for this addition seriously
I would add, "You cannot demand that other people accept your version of canon."
You’re not depressed. You just need $250,000 in your bank account.
Reblog to materialize $250,000 in prev's bank account

UMBRA IS STORY RELEVANT AGAIN WOO
FIRST TRUE COLOR PHOTO OF AN ATOMIC NUCLEUS!
FIJMU News 10-19-21
Today, the world's most powerful microscope has photographed in real color the core of a single atom. The nucleus of an atom is like the delicious yolk of a hard boiled quantum egg, containing protons and neutrons (red) as held together by gluons (tan filaments). All known substances are made of atoms with nuclei like the one seen above.
The atom used was a Thulium atom because of its highly photogenic traits, bright coloration, and nice atomic number. According to microscopy professor Minnie Lewker, "Atoms have been photographed before but never in real color. They usually look almost like waves of light and dark instead of real, tangible objects as they are."
The same microscope team was also able to take the first known photograph of an electron:
There is (somehow) an xkcd for that
