i know the “trollcops” concept is dated now but unfortunately terezi and sollux are the two troll characters that would work better than any others as a hard boiled noir detective pair
the appeal of it is obviously partially the “jaded emotionally unstable cynic who is nonetheless relatively upstanding and occasionally even kind x receptive excitable optimist with a sense of humor who is extremely ruthless and morally questionable” dynamic (both of these being subversions of classic noir archetypes) but i also just get a giggle out of imagining sollux being like, terezi’s mean rude ass secretary that hates his job but solves cases with her because he can’t help himself. and she’s like this tough hard-drinking ex-cop with a troubled past that’s addicted to antagonizing him because she always manages to reverse-psychology him into going along with her investigations and shenanigans. and they go around wearing trench coats and fedoras in the rain.
