Me: I had to explain to Penny how the borrowers are part of the elf union and so they go to North Pole the last 3 weeks of the year so no one ever has to work too much over time and that's why they haven't taken mommy's wrapping paper or scissors or anything else I've left out... shes trying to explain the elf union to you.

This is one of the first arguments that really got me on board tbh, which is ironic for the post.

Had a conversation on facebook years ago with a Palestinian person from Jordan and another Israeli person. And the Palestinian person said something like, what do you want us to do? What can we do at this point, even if we wanted the two states you think we should aim for. And the other Israeli person had like, a list of ineffective symbolic "protest" methods. And it hit me how useless it was, like saying "ask nicely." So I asked for one similar situation in history where that helped. Which effectively ended the conversation - it got derailed into calling me self-hating, because I dared to imply that we're anything like other colonial projects.
