What troubles you is always an opportunity for growth.
fuck it. be creative even if you never really *make* anything. write out plot synopses of stories and then move on. design OCs you'll never use. make mood boards and concept art and don't do anything with them. life's too short to forget everything that inspired you and creation doesn't have to be "complete" to be worth the time you put into it.

âThe widely circulated timeline created by @Zerflin does a great job in showing how recently slavery & segregation occurred & that they lasted longer than the modern era.Â
âI'd like to offer this timeline as another way of viewing the same period of history to show the constancy of both Black resistance in US & efforts of the white power structure to maintain racial caste since 1619.â

saw this on twitter and iâm not quite sure about the process here, but figured it could be helpful to anybody whoâs homeless and needs the check, so i thought iâd repost it here. if anybody has corrections or things to add, please do! the thread doesnât contain a lot of information about when you can expect to see this money, unfortunately, so iâm not sure if itâs the fastest or best method for this, and iâm hoping maybe someone else knows of more options.
iâm unfortunately not sure how to do image IDs correctly. however, to summarize, this thread says that anyone who is homeless should go to a tax preparation office, do their 1040 and file an EIP return. if you have a debit card, you can have the stimulus check put on that card. itâs also possible to use a homeless shelter address for this process at the tax preparation office, and to go there to pick it up. tax preparation offices charge a fee, but there is also an IRS program called VITA that can help you file for free, which i link later in this post.
hereâs the link to the IRS VITA thing.
the whole thread is here for anyone who wants to get more information from twitter.
Also libraries print 1040s for free!
This is important.
Itâs not a âloopholeâ itâs explicit within the text of the amendment
âLoopholeâ lmfao like itâs a fucking accident, like it wasnât purposefully structured to reclaim and expand a source of free labor
We never outlawed slavery in America. We simply transferred ownership of slaves from individual landowners to the government and large corporations.
Other fun facts about prison labor corporations:
-Federal and state-run prisons usually pay their slaves minimum wage; some states, however, like Colorado, pay $2/hour.
-Private prisons pay $.17-.50/hour. The highest paying private prison is in Tennessee, which pays $.50/hour for âhighly-skilled labor.â
-You think that hasnât affected wages in the US? You think that hasnât removed manufacturing jobs from the economy?
-Companies that contract with private prisons for their slave labor include: IBM, Boeing, Motorola, Microsoft, AT&T, Wireless, Texas Instrument, Dell, Compaq, Honeywell, Hewlett-Packard, Nortel, Lucent Technologies, 3Com, Intel, Northern Telecom, TWA, Nordstromâs, Revlon, Macyâs, Pierre Cardin, Target Stores. Many, many products that say âMade in USAâ were made in prison.
-Private prisons often have quotas with the states, wherein the states contractually guarantee that they will provide a certain number of prisoners to fill the beds of a private prison, and if they donât then they owe the private prison millions of dollars. Iâm not making this up. It happened in Colorado after they legalized weed.
-States have a financial incentive to lock up their citizens.
-All of the above corporations have a financial incentive to see citizens get locked up.
-This is why Jeff Sessions is going after weed. The prison industrial complex needs slaves.
-To the shock of absolutely no one, private prisons have even more disparate racial demographics than federal/state prisons.
-Where do you think they send undocumented immigrants who have been rounded up? Thatâs right, private prisons. Thatâs why so many of them are in the South. So they take immigrants who are earning some kind of comparable wage and paying income tax to the government, and put them in prison where the wages are absurdly depressed and the prison pays virtually nothing in taxes.
-Oh yeah: private prisons pay virtually nothing in taxes. Because they technically manage real estate (prison as housing), they get all sorts of tax breaks and subsidies.
Tl;dr the prison industrial complex removes jobs from the economy, depresses wages, cheats the tax system, and ENSLAVES PEOPLE, usually people of color.

For reference, theyâre referring to the clause that goes, âneither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.â
Prison abolition today
We can find a Better Word than LoopholeâŚ. Sounds like Legal Slavery.

âThis country was founded by a group of slave owners who told us that all men are created equal. To my mind, that is whatâs known as being stunningly and embarrassingly full of shit.â - George Carlin
âŚPolitiFact going through history to fact check this guy was like that time CNN went through history to dig up dirt on Bernie, and all they found were videos of him planting trees, and telling kids that racism is bad.
being individuals together is so intimate. letâs read different books but curled up next to each other, letâs visit a coffee shop so you can study & i can write, letâs just be near each other
pretty shitty how baseline human activities like singing, dancing and making art got turned into skills instead of being seen as behaviors
so now itâs like âthe point of doing them is to get good at themâ and not âthis is a thing humans do, the way birds sing and bees make hivesâ.
I know Iâve posted this before, but it bears repeating.
This is a thing humans do; you donât have to be good at it to enjoy it.

Does anyone else pretend theyâre two separate people, who are best friends, for self care purposes?
Like, thereâs Physical Friend, who takes care of hunger and exhaustion and moving around and stuff; and thereâs Mental Friend, who says all the words and feels feelings. Theyâve known each other for as long as they can remember and care about each other a lot!!
So when Mental Friend is beating themself up for a little mistake, Physical Friend moves them outside and walks with them! Or, when Physical Friend doesnât feel like they can get up and eat, Mental Friend tells them good and lovely things and persuades them to grab something tasty!
