Its another one of those things that this government has proposed that they have not thought through for longer than 5 seconds.

We can recognise that there’s is a problem with social media and the impacts it’s having on young people. But rather than actually attempt to address those issues they’re just like ah we’ll get rid of it.

There’s so many issues with this first of all kids are smart okay they’re gonna find a way around it. Second of all data privacy is practically non existent for all of us. We’re all gonna be treated as criminals until we can prove we’re adults. That data isn’t secure either it’s gonna be some 3rd party whatever the fuck that gets leaked every other week.

My biggest concern in about all of this is the psychological impact it’s gonna have on these kids. They are being told time and time again they don’t deserve to exist in our society. “Oh we’re doing this to help em out” are you heck? They’re being punished for something that ain’t there fault to begin with.

Our government have defunded social programs and have systematically pushed younger people out of our society. And now they’re trying to get rid of em in the only place these kids have left. Theyve built their lives on here, found friends and community online.

Not to mention for the vast majority of us including them it’s how you find out about literally anything. I don’t read the paper and neither do they it’s how we all stay connected with the world.

And we’re shutting them out it.

The only thing I agree with was the no nudes shit but even then I’m like I don’t trust you lot. Doesn’t stop any fuckers from sending em to children or whatever they’re making AI do on Twitter.

Location sharing is how a lot of parents keep an eye on their kids in general and like we’re living in a county where multiple black women have been found dead in lakes under mysterious circumstances.

Why the fuck would we be getting rid of location sharing for anyone with that going on is beyond me.

The verification shit is just unsustainable parents can’t cope with that shit it’s more on there plate to deal with. And it’s all being talked about with this sunshine and rainbows belief that every parent will do right by there kids. But what about those that don’t? Kids who are being abused? LGBTQ youth who have unsupportive families? Kids who have mental health issues, drug addiction, who’ve been sexually assaulted and have no one to help for them?

They don’t think about them do they?

They don’t think about how this ban will be taking away resources, information, helplines and communities away from them. Censoring “mature” content from them which could be life or death for them because our government doesn’t give a rats arse about them.

I dunno man I just think if I were there age and this shit was introduced I’d have be right fucked. I’d lose the only place in the world where I can be out and proud and talk to my friends who are all online.

I don’t know what would happen to me if I lost all of that and were left alone but I can tell you now it’d destroy me. I hate it I hate it so much that people younger than me are gonna have to deal with that and our government doesn’t give a flying fuck.

And you best believe I put all that in that fucking consultation too gave em a right piece of my mind. Young people don’t deserve this they deserve to be free and informed and educated and respected and my heart goes out to all of em.

It also goes without saying that bioessentialism inherently can’t be trans inclusive no matter how hard you try. “All men including trans men—” probably not. “This is only a woman’s issue—” is it really? “Afabs only—” why? “All trans men are like—” what? what are they like? finish the sentence i dare you.

The Government has just announced what socials will be banned for anyone not willing to upload their ID & Private information to the government & third party clients; TikTok, Youtube, Snapchat, Instagram, X, Reddit, Facebook, Twitch, Kick & Threads. (Reminder that anything deemed mature or 18+ is no longer accessible and hasn’t been for several weeks now.)

The Government is also introducing a bedtime curfew for 16 & 17 year olds — who can join the army, can move out, can get married, and can legally vote, as well as work. but sure, they need a curfew.

Forcing a country to abide by these laws is an infringement on our privacy. There was no democracy with this decision, we had no say, we have been forced under this guise of “protect the children” so that the government can get access to the publics messages, pictures, videos & private information.

I am begging the UK trans community and its allies to attend the Mass Lobby at Parliament on June 25th, 11am-4pm, organised by Trans Solidarity Alliance.

The new EHRC Code of Practice pushes trans people out of toilets, hospital wards, and community spaces. It normalises gender policing based on appearance and stereotypes. It becomes statutory guidance in the UK by the end of June.

Trans people are now legally their assigned gender at birth and must join gendered spaces accordingly, but if they are perceived as their lived gender, they can also be ejected from those spaces. The guidance says: either break the law, or don’t pass too well.

A mass lobby is where you invite your MP to discuss your concerns with you in-person. Ask your MP to:

Demand full parliamentary scrutiny, debate, and use their free vote on the EHRC Code of Practice.

Support any motions rejecting the EHRC guidance. As of June 4th, Labour MP Nadia Whittome has submitted a prayer motion - Early Day Motion 240, please ask your MP to sign this.

Your MP does not have to be an ally, they do not have to respond to your email for you to show up and greencard them (details below the cut.) What matters is that as many people as possible show up.

I cannot stress this enough: Showing up in person matters. It is much more effective than petitions, emails, and letters.

It is a horrible, stressful time, and I am so sorry if you're trans and live in the UK. But I was at last year's mass lobby and the line for greencarding alone stretched around the back gates.
