When Dennis was growing up, his mom had a best friend, they liked to paint his nails and gossip with him like he was one of the girls, even if he was only five. When he was six Dennis met his moms best friends boyfriend Jack and his best friend Robby. With his mom being so young and a single mother, she latched onto the idea of dating the new doctor Robby and asked Dennis if he wanted Robby as his new daddy. The young boy liked that, Robby was funny, he played games, and answered any questions he had.
Robby quickly titled himself as uncle Robby, he came round often, especially when he found out Dennis was left alone most evenings when his mom worked. His mom didnt mind, so why would Dennis? It was nice having someone help him have a bath, read him a story, and he got to eat a hot meal, instead of the sandwich his mom left in the fridge.
Dennis wasnt sure what happened, but after his tenth birthday he knew his mom and her best friend fell out, something about a wedding. A week or so later, when he was in bed, Robby had cooked cheesy pasta, helped him with a bath, and read a book about a giraffe trying to get home, Dennis heard his mom came back. Peering out his bedroom door, he watched uncle Robby push his mom away from himself and tell her that it wasnt like that for him. The next morning, his mom was mean, told him that she would have been getting married too if it wasnt for Dennis, that she should never have kept him, Dennis made sure his mom got plenty of water that day and washed her face when she finished throwing up.
Life didnt change again until Dennis was fifteen, his mom suddenly wore lighter makeup, dressed modestly, and even took Dennis to church. His mom met and married a fifty year old man called Jacob, he was very religious and very strict. Now Dennis wasnt allowed to swear, media he consumed was monitored and Jacob demanded Dennis keep his bedroom door open at all time. Two weeks before Dennis turned eighteen, Jacob came home earlier than normal and caught Dennis kissing his friend Adam in his room. Jacob threw Adam out and berated Dennis, calling him names and insulting him before pulling Dennis into a rough kiss. Life changed the second Dennis rejected his step-father, he was outed to his mother, kicked out of his home, and Dennis was left all alone.
He doesnt know why he sought out Robby, at first he couldnt find him, he only remembered the name Robby. Using the last of the power on his phone, he searched his moms friend, maybe she could help? Dennis was shocked to find an obituary, it listed her maiden name which Dennis had searched and her married name Abbot. He found Robby on the PMTC web page when he instinctively tried Jack Abbot. Robby hadnt changed much, more lines on his face, some grey hair sprinkled in, maturity shown effortlessly.
He didnt have a plan, he just waited near the E.D. exit, hoping to catch Robby, instead at least two nurses had tried to encourage him to come inside as they caught sight of him on their smoke break. When an older blonde woman wouldnt take no for an answer, he thought he might be able to get a free sandwich, he did. As luck would have it, he got Robby as well, as soon as the man caught sight of Dennis, he nearly dropped the tablet in his hand and rushed over pulling Dennis into a hug. Dennis instantly crumbled, telling Robby everything the minute they sat in the break room. Dennis sat in the room for a couple of hours whilst Robby finished his shift and was huddled to the truck that Robby drove. He caught sight of Jack who simply raised his eyebrows in surprise, but otherwise did nothing else.
Dennis stayed in the spare room at Robbys which doubled as his step kids room sometimes, which Dennis learnt he had. When Jake stayed round, Dennis shared Robby's bed, it was natural, Robby had fallen asleep with Dennis more times than he could count when he was younger. It had been a few months, now at eighteen, Dennis was applying to colleges, looking for part time work, and finally just living. He was happy. Dennis even joined a local support group for LGBTQ+ youths to socialise, Dennis felt like himself, and he finally had his favourite person, uncle Robby back in his life.
Maybe he was too happy and should have been on guard, one night when he returned from his social group, Dennis chatted happily about the new friends he had made, they other young men like him. Robby was quiet though, he was different with Dennis, the man even went to bed earlier than normal. The next day, Dennis worried that although Robby had accepted that Dennis was gay, he didnt want to hear about it, it resulted in him panicking when Robby text that Jake needed his room later, where should Dennis sleep.
It was practically midnight, Robby had still not returned, Jake hadnt appeared, Dennis was lost on what to do. Not wanting to annoy Robby any further, Dennis made himself a bed on the sofa and fell asleep, trying to not let his worries take over.
Dennis wasnt sure how much time had passed, he was still groggy as he felt warm breath on his cheek and felt his hand being held and wrapped around something. As he woke up more, Dennis realised his hand was gripping something and moving up and down, he could hear grunting, no he could hear Robby grunting.
"Fuck, its been too hard kid, I tried, I really did"
Dennis was confused as he the sleep drifted away, becoming more aware of what was happening, he was being puppeteered to jerk off someone, Robby to be more precise. The older man's forehead rested on his temple as Robby pressed soft kisses to the skin he could reach and before Dennis knew it, Robby finished over their joint hands.
"Fuck Dennis. How long you been awake?"
Dennis knew he should be mad, he should feel used and upset but he didnt, he felt annoyed that he didnt see Robby finish, that he didnt have more control of his actions, that he was asleep for most of it. Turning his face to Robby he grabbed his face and finally smelt the strong stench of alcohol coming from Robby and realised that the man hadnt come home because he was getting drunk.
"You were supposed to be in my bed Dennis. Why arent you in my bed? Are you mad at me?"
"What? No. I didnt know if you wanted me there Uncle Robby"
It was stating the familial title that had Robbys breath revealing how much he liked it. Dennis smiled as he stroked Robby's cheek.
"Can we go to bed now uncle Robby?"
