every single child (smurf's or not) under the cody roof was abused in one way or another but pope and julia really suffered the brunt of it all. the younger brothers never truly understood what pope and julia went through growing up with smurf before the house and money.

deran and craig loved pope. i don't doubt that. when pope really needed help they were there but every day pope troubles? those were his problems. i do think they cared about pope and showed it in their own ways and knew how to talk/treat him when he did need help. craig throwing him in the shower to snap him out of his depression long enough to get some answers. deran quietly talking to him to get him to open up about what was bothering him.

i loved pope and deran. their relationship was one of my favorites if not my favorite out of the entire show. i still like to think that if their prison break plan had gone smoothly (which never was going to bc j planned it all to fail) that deran and pope would have been together. deran was going to take pope with him and said so with no hesitation. pope needed someone and deran was going to be that person.

pope put EVERYONE before himself. his loyalty was exploited so many times by every single one of his family members. they all used him in one way or another for selfish gain. pope deserved the same kind of loyalty and love and it felt like he was at the very bottom of everyone's list.
