seeing straight men be disgusted by booktok smut recommenders has actually radicalized me to the side of booktok smut recommenders. girls your taste may be atrocious but i will never disparage you for exposing mainstream discourse to the concept of soaking through your underwear. spent my whole life listening to men talk about penises itâs about time they get jumpscared by women talking about pussy in crude detail on social media. go forth and goon my warriors
I work at a bookstore and hearing one of my male coworkers call smutty romantasy "the downfall of society" because it's "literally just porn" radicalized me
Men have an entire industry. Entire industries dedicated to their sexualities. Let women have fantasy sex. there's not even a camera crew involved.
Left this in the notes
đ
Something I really struggle to get people to understand is that like. Sometimes there was no intentional homoerotic subtext, the author was just extremely misogynistic. Sometimes the author wasn't "secretly shipping" those two men, the author literally just hates women so much that they see them as being literally incapable of relationships with depth. Like this is kind of a big thing with misogyny actually. A lot of extremely misogynistic people truly believe that a man can only have meaningful and complex relationships with other men because they literally just think women are so inferior they only exist to birth children and clean the house. It's like when people say along the lines of "no one worships exclusively men quite like straight men do". It's just that phenomenon actually. That happens to be manifesting in a raging misogynist's writing. Writing a man character who literally only puts effort into his friendships with other men while completely ignoring his literal girlfriend or wife is actually an extremely straight thing to write. And that doesn't mean you can't ship those men or that there are no stories with actual intentional homoerotic subtext. I just think it's important to be able to recognize extreme misogyny in writing and acknowledge it without brushing it off and assuming good intentions when literally all evidence is screaming that this was a misogynistic writing choice and not a representing gay men choice.
you do not need to ai generate crow I can give you crow for free
I can literally give you crow for free
Not as nice as yours imo but I too can give crow for free! :D

people
bro i LOVE indigenous fusion music i love it when indigenous people take traditional practices and language and apply them in new cool ways i love the slow decay and decolonisation of the modern music industry
I WILL !!! I WILL DO THAT
some of my favourite indigenous artists, in no particular order:
Inuit artists:
the jerry cans (esp their album Inuusiq)
beatrice deer
twin flames
MÄori artists:
jordyn with a why
Indigenous australian artists:
tilly tjala thomas (i particularly love ngai yurlku nhiina)
kardajala kirridarra (srlsly check out ngajabu (Grandmother's Song))
i've also heard good things abt Baker Boy, but i haven't checked out his stuff yet
Another one for Inuit artists is Piqsiq! Two sisters whoâve been doing traditional throat singing since they were kids. They make some really gorgeous, eerie, atmospheric stuff. Highly recommend watching this video of them performing live a cappella using a looping machine, because they might be the coolest people on the planet actually
(Jo March nearly in tears voice) women,,,,
For anyone into North Asian and Central Asian folk music, there's this incredible Siberian folk-pop band called Otyken! The group is mostly women and they're from multiple indigenous groups in Siberia, with songs being sung in their range of different languages. They're so much fun and their music videos are amazing!
i'll go ahead and recommend The Halluci Nation (formerly known as A Tribe Called Red), an EDM group from First Nations Ontario that do really cool fusions of First Nations music with dubstep, moombahton, and hip hop.
I really really really appreciate people who share videos on posts like these, because almost without a doubt every time I love the music but Iâve never got the spoons to click on links and look through a bunch of music or worse google the artist I always end up too overwhelmed to start and I hate that
Haven't seen Belle Sisoski here yet so here we go: she's the current Artist of Year for BURO impact Awards. She's from Malaysia and knows how to play an insane amount of ethnic instruments and mixes them with her own voice. She does covers and her own songs, mixes ethnic instruments with Techno and shows the process. And she's also a live DJ at 19!
And one of her own:
Oh and of course there's also the HU and Bloodywood for people who like more rock and metal mixed in:
1876 is a Pow Wow punk rock band from Portland, Oregon
Alien Weaponry is an awesome MÄori metal band
Darkaside is a Papuan metal band
Shepherds Reign is a Samoan metal band
Ts'msyen (pacific northwest coast) black metal

Every June, massive corporations post rainbow profile pictures and profess to support queer communities, while simultaneously donating hundr
Shout-out to aromantic people whose lives are so fucking busy that they periodically forget what day of the week it is. today is Wednesday, June 5th. Happy Aromantic Visibility Day.
This would have had me crucified on tumblr 10 years ago but maybe we are ready for this conversation now:
If you are a socially anxious person, you have to socialize. Your panic/anxiety attacks will only get worse and trigger more frequently if you constantly avoid contact with The Public. Not saying that you need to be a social butterfly- but there is a genuine problem with not being able to order your own meal at a restaurant. And it cannot be solved by always having someone else do it for you.
This is a PSA to about 3/4s of the Portland Youth populace
everyone who reblogs this and is like "I ordered my own tea this week" or "I only barfed once when I had to give a presentation'- you are doing amazing sweetie. Have patience with yourself, you are relearning a skill so difficult that people get 4 year degrees to do it professionally.
I would also add, sometimes you do need to step back
I had an event that I was worried about, where I might have to talk about something that I was struggling to mask my autism about
And I was telling a friend, and she scoffed, saying "just don't be aggy"
And then I admitted what my non-masked response would be
And she was like "oh shit, yeah, that's super aggy"
And I know that
I know that I come across as a bitch when I don't mask
And I've recovered enough that I think I can mask appropriately, but whether or not I stepped back was a reasonable response in this instance
The key is that you need to be able to step back in when it's safe
Was socially anxious to the point i wanted to vomit during most social interactions, and tended to go into a panic spiral afterwards. Took me 5 years to be mostly free of that now but yeah. As much as i hated and rejected whenever i was told this- the answer genuinely consisted like 80% of just doing it more.
There's no way to learn how the cadence of conversation goes, figure out what questions to ask, and quiet the sirens that go off in your head unless you expose yourself to it. The thing people usually don't include with that piece of advice though is how to start when you're so unused to doing so.
I'm. Not qualified to talk on this really, and it's different for everyone, but I feel obligated to share what helped for me in case it helps anyone else.
Just exposing yourself to public, social spaces can help. Sit in a coffee shop instead of getting to-go, wait on a bench on your way to something else, go on a walk, take a bus if you don't usually. And if you don't typically have places you're already going (e.g. work, school), welp, that's the destination instead of a stop now! If you're sensitive to noise, bring headphones! Bring sunglasses, bring a mobility aid, bring whatever you need to be more comfortable and thus set yourself up for success. You're allowed, it's not cheating!
For the sake of consistency and external motivation, try to find groups and spaces that have recurring meetups about something you're interested in so you can find your people (library, gym, park, club, etc.). Online is a fine place to start honestly, that's what I did. It's infinitely easier to engage when you want and disengage when you're done. Eventually you can transition from messaging to calling if you find people you like, and even irl meetups if you're nearby (obligatory note to be safe and smart about this). I did that along with finding (and pursuing to join, which is a challenge in and of itself) a therapy group that was mostly just a DnD campaign in disguise, but hey, it worked. Being around other anxious people is a great way to make yourself feel more normal.
While I did say there's no way to learn unless you do it, it will still take time. It will still feel bad and wrong, you will continue to have the symptoms you have for a while, and you will still fuck up and say the wrong thing. Frequently even. But it will get better so long as you try, even if it doesn't immediately feel like it. Research is good to help find professional support or advice. So don't be afraid to use resources you find as a jumping off point, but that can't be the end of it. You must jump off. Before you can do anything consistently, there will always be a first time.
Finally, celebrate your wins! If you don't get the happy brain chemicals for completing the shitty thing that's hard? Manufacture that shit. Get a treat, watch something you've been meaning to, play that game you wanted to, allow yourself time to recover. Doesn't matter how hard or easy it is for other people, don't ever beat yourself up for a step in the right direction, no matter how small. If you feel bad about it, plan for next time. Redirect that pain into action or distraction, don't let it stay pointed at yourself, even if that in a backwards way feels better or right. That goes for feeling bad about feeling bad too.
Anyway, people far more qualified write books about this but. There's my 2 cents of stuff I've had to walk and talk myself through in this journey. Honestly this post is another one of those steps. We're always learning and growing but it's so much easier than it used to be.
Curious what is actually normal for bed time. Go for your normal/average time, not your most extreme or what you wish it was.
what time do you go to bed? (local time)
7pm or before
8pm
9pm
10pm
11pm
12am
1am
2am or after
it's never consistent
some other time entirely
I just don't know what grownups do for bedtime and I want to know!!!

Once when I was in undergrad, someone described something as âproblematicâ in class and our professor was like, âThatâs cool, but âproblematicâ doesnât really mean anything. It means that the thing youâre describing has a problem, and in and of itself thatâs not bad. Art, especially, should always have problems, or else itâs not interesting and not art, either. It sounds like youâre trying to say that this is bad, but you donât want to say âbad.â Is that right?â
So from then on whenever one of us called something problematic, he would make us talk it out until we could name the âbadâ thing we were hinting at. In this particular class, 7/10 it was some type of oppression, and the remainder was like, âIâm uncomfortable because this is very new/confusing/pushing boundaries that made me feel safe.â
Once we stopped calling things âproblematicâ and stopping at that, class got way more interesting and... we all had to say, like, âthatâs racistâ or âthatâs misogynisticâ or âew capitalism grossâ out loud, which a lot of us had never done in a classroom before. Or we had to be like, âUhhh... Iâm not sure whatâs so bad?â and confront our own beliefs and that was maybe even more useful.
Anyway. Whenever I see the word problematic, I canât help but think of this professor being like, âGood starting point, now letâs get specific.â I think when we have to commit to saying âthatâs ___â it requires a lot more careful thought about the truth and impact and complexities of whatever weâre claiming. Sometimes there really is some bullshit afoot, and also sometimes itâs art, and it should be full of problems, because thatâs what art is.
