Above are two moments that really knocked me out from the final pages of Stephen King’s IT - a beautiful book about the power of childhood, what we remember and how we forget.

In a weird and random parallel I read this when I was about 15, forgot all about it then picked it up again at the age of 35. The pieces came back to me bit by bit, shock realisations as I encountered images I barely remembered.

If you’ve never read It, please do. Yes, It’s terrifying horror and yes, It’s cosmological fantasy, but It’ll also make you cry as you slowly remember that summer from your own childhood and mourn it’s passing.

Once, horror movie posters themselves were scary. What happened! I remember the poster for the fourth movie freaking the hell out of me when I was 6 as I passed it on the way in to see... probably something like Bambi.
