Our director will be the first to tell you that the point of our participating in the 48 Hour Film Project is to have fun.
In a way, he means like children having fun. And yes. There's a certain truth to that. Because we laugh. We joke. We prank a little. We're stream of consciousness. We're improvisational. We're passionate. We get to do a lot of cool stuff.
We have fun.
We're also, though, directors, producers, writers, actors, production and post-production professionals and, as such, we wield a much broader definition of the word, "fun".
Because we do cool stuff. We do hard stuff. We problem solve in real time. We collaborate. We execute directions. We manifest creative vision. We're experts of our own disciplines. We love challenge. We thrive on creative figuring out. And when we do a 48, we're like dogs on the hunt. We may get tired. We may even get frustrated. But here's the thing:
We know what we're chasing.
We're not gonna stop chasing it.
And we're experienced to such degree that we can maneuver making our collective vision manifest through the hours then minutes we have to manifest it.
Successfully.
Which is fun. For us... it's fun. It lights us up. It releases adrenaline like flood gates bursting open. It's the ultimate indulging of our passions and expertise.
We're energized by that chase because, sure. That's Who we are.
Creative.
Passionate.
Talented.
With brains that are optimised for this particular chase.
I don't know what to tell you.
They just are.
So why do we do the 48?
Because it's fun.
