Tokyo Drifter
The Fabulous Baron Munchausen by Karel Zeman - never saw anything by this guy before. Goes to show there is always something new to discover. Recognized some of the images from gifs here on Tumblr. The bio on the DVD was awesome. Again, made especially for me.
Death Comes to Town - a loose Kids in the Hall romp. I liked the ending, and it is always worth seeing Chicken Lady and Paul Bellini.
Kontroll - gritty, surreal Hungarian flick. I had seen portions of this back when IFC and Sundance were worth a damn in the early 2000s. Reminds me why a lot of Indie and foreign films were great in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s.
The already seens:
48 Hours - felt like I was seeing it again for the first time. I found myself doing the IMDB game of saying "oh, Denise Crosby, Billy from Predator, Mike the fixer, and Leon from Blade Runner!!". Surprised it was not a Jerry Bruckheimer project.
Slacker - on TV last night. Have it on tape, but seeing it on TV was worth it. Good off-the-cuff film-making.
Down by Law - also recently on TV; also something I have on tape. Still why I like films that don't need high budget sensationalism to be dang good...having a good cast also helps.
Near Dark - underrated vampire film with great scenes. Got three members of Aliens in it. Everybody here LOVES Paxton's character. Did I mention 1980s score by Tangerine Dream?! De Laurentiis!! De Laurentiis!!
Duck Soup - Might be my fifth time watching it, but I needed cheering up.
