I just learned of the passing of Dr. Raul Pacheco-Vega. It hit me like a ton of bricks. He dedicated much of his career to making the hidden curriculum accessible, and there is no way I would have gotten to this point in my academic career without the resources he generously and selflessly provided to young scholars. I held so much respect and gratitude for this man. From reading the memorial writing his close friends and colleagues I have read, it seems that a major frustration in his lifetime was the way Western academia refuses to engage with scholarship in the other parts of the world, and they have shared that reading and citing his work is how he would want to be remembered. To honor that request and to expose more young academics to the best resource I’ve ever found, I’m sharing his blog here. May his memory be a blessing!
