I say this every time, but people Do Not Realize just how short the timeline has been on gay people in kids’ media. And it’s an ongoing fight, but this was 10 - 15 years ago.
I'm not in the Steven Universe fandom. I don't really even know the show. But the story she's telling here is important to remember. What feels like small snippets of representation took a lot of fighting to get and it wasn't as long ago as you think.

I’m not Christian, I don’t go to church anymore, and my pastor died, but when he was alive I’d sometimes go to his sermons and I remember one time he said “it feels good to hate, but we know that it isn’t allowed, so when we’re told that we’re allowed to hate someone we get so excited that we forget we’re supposed to love”, and if my humble atheist ass might borrow some church talk I’d like to perhaps submit that
Anyhow sometimes on the day to day I feel disgust or revulsion and I have to ask myself “is this a danger to anyone at all or am I just looking for something I’m allowed to hate” and a solid 98/100 times it’s the latter so once again thank you pastor D
They wear suits, but they don't even know basic etiquette.

It's too dangerous to travel alone. Take this with you.
Today's bug thing is this pair of horseshoe crab earrings from Bamboo Jewelry!
Is it true that kangaroo can only move their legs at the same time, like they can’t move them independently leg humans or dogs do?
yes with an exception: when kangaroos are on land, they use their legs together for hopping, but when they swim, they alternate which leg is kicking just like humans and dogs do!
so they CAN, they just don't unless they think they need to.
This has not always been the case however! Australia used to have another group of kangaroos called the sthenurines, also known as "short-faced kangaroos" (skeleton A below). They were proportioned quite differently, with larger bodies and shorter legs, feet and tails:
They were so differently proportioned, and some species grew so large, than hopping like a modern kangaroo was probably physically impossible for them, so researchers have proposed that they walked bipedally instead!
Members of Sthenurinae – an ancient family of kangaroos that lived until 30,000 years ago - likely preferred walking to hopping.
There are multiple delightfully cursed reconstructions of this behaviour which makes them look more like a person running around pretending to be a dinosaur than anything else
But a) what about swimming makes it do they can suddenly move their legs independently?
and b) I think they can do it on land a little bit? I’ve seen them take little balancing steps when they’re fighting each other?
the swimming thing means that they CAN move their legs independently, they just largely don't in their day-to-day life. it's like how rabbits can scuttle but mostly move around by hopping
How to see whether a Chinese handmade teapot is well done or not - quality of the spout is an important standard.
cr: 承启 建水紫陶
that last teapot is like witnessing an eternal and important truth
I just watched this with the sound on and i really recommend it because the utter silence of the last teapot is both perfectly predictable and totally remarkable.
Hello tumblr. I’m reviving my old blog from the dead with some of my PHM fanarts.
This movie/book has gripped my soul a little too hard 😭

‘MEMENTO MORI’ - carved pearl, New York, 2023 by (IG) @shinji_nakaba .
I'm in a little local cafe and the women behind the counter started griping to each other, "Oh Christ, Stephen's back again," "It's him, is it? I thought he'd stopped coming," "It's definitely him, look, it's bloody Stephen on a Thursday morning," "Do you want me to get rid of him or are you going to do it?" and so I was peering outside, trying to spot this nightmare customer, this pestilence of a person, this pox upon the cafe trade, and then one of the women from behind the counter ran outside, clapping two trays together loudly and yelling "GET OUT OF IT, STEPHEN!" and it turns out that Stephen is an absolutely gigantic fuck-off seagull who hangs around outside, menacing people for crumbs
