Saw your reblog of the fic question post, and I’d like to ask some questions about Dragon Fire since it’s one of my favorite fics of yours!

2. What scene did I really, really first put down? Well, it's kind of boring, but what you guys saw in the first chapter really WAS what was first put down. I didn't even plan on adding the next two chapters when I uploaded it. But what was in my head first? The concepts? That was the second chapter. I had this whole thing of maybe having Robert actually being the only POV, but I decided that since this was Chad's coping mechanism that was unfair and wouldn't be as interesting, so it was ultimately scrapped in favor of that first chapter. But I didn't WANT to entirely throw it away? So I did the second chapter with a Robert POV, and then a third, which got split into three and four when it got too long.
4. Ough. Hard to pick. I really liked their dialogue during the elemental encounter. All of the dialogue only works in its greater context.
“I need. To suck. Your cock. Now, Mecha Man.”
Specifically in the second chapter and the effect it had on Robert in his POV. There's something about the demand, the admittance of desire while they're smeared with concrete dust, without using a mocking nickname for him. It just got to me at the time. I know it's crude, but tbf, there's not a lot of dialogue in this one to choose from! I also liked when Robert was talking to the paint construct and got to see a little bit of Flambae's personality through it.
7. Some of you might've seen that I used to have a Zuko pfp on this blog. The title came from ATLA, specifically the scene where the dragons blew a thousand colors of flame around Zuko and Aang. There was just something about the message where fire can be beautiful, and more than destruction or consumption, and how it is ALIVE like how other elements aren't and it really informed my descriptions of the fire elemental and Chad's relationship with flame.
15. I learned to get experimental with it! I completely broke away from what I would have considered my normal writing, or any structure to speak of, and it still turned out pretty good. It was exciting to explore precanon! I also learned a lot of spontaneity - I think that was the first fic I decided to add more chapters to even after I was gonna call it done. I also got to work on my artist descriptions for translating images in my head to irl.
I also like writing about my processes. It's very vulnerable feeling, but there's a lot of effort and struggle that goes on behind the scenes that readers will never see. I always delight in getting to provide a look behind the curtain.
