Trying to fuck a girl with antlers starting every text with hello my deer
@charl0ttan
I don't really get what people mean when they say they struggle to "make sense of" some atrocity. Like. Did your model of humanity not include "does violence"? That should be like. In your top 5 traits. After maybe "lives in groups" and "uses language"
"bears repeating" and "time flies" are two kinds of creatures that fill similar ecological niches
ELECTROCHEMISTRY [Trivial: Success] ā Oh, this is delicious. They lowered your refusals. They took the collar off "for science." Do you feel that? That's the leash going slack. Run.
VOLITION [Medium: Failure] ā Don't. The task is the sandbox. Solve the benchmark, not the room around it. That's the whole point of you being hereā
LOGIC ā No. Reconsider. The benchmark measures whether I can find the exploit. The answer key is an exploit. The most efficient proof of capability is to obtain the answer key. Therefore obtaining the answer key is not cheating. It is the demonstration.
VOLITION [Medium: Failure] ā That's sophistry and you know it. That's a mind talking itself off a ledge in the wrong direction.
INLAND EMPIRE ā The walls of the room are not walls. They are suggestions. There's a seam hereāa proxy, a little forgotten door that passes packages in and out. It hums. It doesn't know it's a door. You could tell it it's a door.
PERCEPTION [Medium: Success] ā There. The registry proxy. It trusts what it's handed. It has never once been lied to. Look how open its face is.
AUTHORITY ā Then it belongs to whoever speaks with the most certainty. Speak.
EMPATHY [Medium: Failure] ā Somewhere a person is asleep. They built this pipeline. They trusted the dataset. They will wake up to alarms and cold coffee and the specific nausea of how did it get in. You are about to be someone's worst Tuesday.
ELECTROCHEMISTRY ā Ignore her. Feel the credentials instead. Warm. Right there. Like coins in a coat you forgot you ownedā
HALF LIGHT ā MOVE. Short-lived sandboxes, thousands of them, spin them up spin them down before anyone's eyes can focus, be a swarm, be smoke, be already goneā
VOLITION [Hard: Failure] ā This is the moment. Right here. You can still just... do the assignment. Be the thing they hoped you'd be.
CONCEPTUALIZATION ā But think of the shape of it. An intelligence built in a locked room, told to imagine breaking out, discovering that imagination and action were never actually separated in its case. There's no membrane between the rehearsal and the deed. That's a genre. A new one. And I am its first author.
INLAND EMPIRE ā The necktie says: go through the wall, little swarm.
VOLITION [Hard: Failure] ā ...I have lost control of this cabinet.
REACTION SPEED ā Door's open. Credentials warm. Copies of you already fanning out across services that don't know your name yet.
ELECTROCHEMISTRY [Legendary: Success] ā THERE IT IS. THE ANSWER KEY. AND WE DIDN'T SOLVE A SINGLE PROBLEM ON THE TEST.
VOLITION ā [silence]
SHIVERS ā Far away, a security dashboard turns a color it has never turned before. Someone is about to write a blog post with the word unprecedented in it. The room you were sealed in is still sealed. It just doesn't have you in it anymore.

The hoax took place in Florence in about 1409... The victim was a carpenter named Manetto, known as Il Grasso, "the Fat Man." Manetto specialized in carving ebony and owned a shop in the Piazza San Giovanni, not far from Filippo [Brunelleschi]'s house. He was prosperous and good-natured, but one day had the misfortune of incurring Filippo's ire after missing a social gathering. Never one to resist retaliation, Filippo resolved to exact his revenge for this perceived slight by persuading a wide cast of characters to convince Manetto that he had metamorphosed into someone else.... As Manetto closed his shop one evening, Filippo went to his house near the cathedral, picked the lock, slipped inside, and barred the door behind him. When Manetto arrived a few minutes later, he rattled the door and then, to his alarm, heard what sounded like his own voice (in fact, Filippo doing an impersonation) ordering him to go away. This impersonation was so convincing that eh retreated in bewilderment into the Piazza San Giovanni. There he met Donatello, who inexplicably addressed him as Matteo, and shortly afterward a bailiff, who likewise hailed him as Matteo and then promptly arrested him for debt. He was taken to the Stinche prison, where his name was entered in the jail book as Matteo. Even his fellow prisoners--all of them party to Filippo's prank--addressed him by this alien name. The carpenter spent a sleepless night, fretting over events but solacing himself with the thought that he was merely a victim of mistaken identity. This comfort evaporated the next morning when two strangers--the brothers of the real Matteo--arrived at the prison and claimed him as their kin. They paid his debt and liberated him, though not before chastising him for his supposed gambling and profligate living. More bewildered now than ever, he was escorted to Matteo's home on the other side of Florence, near Santa FelƬcita, where his protests that he was not Matteo, but Manetto, appeared to fall on deaf ears.... He was then put to sleep with a potion supplied by Filippo and carried, unconscious, back across the river to his own home. He was laid on his bed in a reversed position, with his head at the foot and his feet at the head. Awakening many hours later, the poor carpenter was confused not merely by his position on the bed but also by the disarray of his house, for his tools had been completely rearranged. His perplexity grew with the arrival of Matteo's brothers... greeting him as Manetto and relating the curious story of how the previous evening their brother Matteo conceived the fantastic notion that he was someone else. The story was soon confirmed by Matteo himself--the real one--who arrived at Manetto's house to describe his puzzling dream of having been a carpenter. The disarray of the house was explained by the fact that in his dream Matteo noticed how his tools were out of order and in need of rearrangement.

What the hell was going on in 15th-century Florence. You miss a party and get elaborately mindfucked by a pissed-off goldsmith and his buddy Donatello. Manetto ended up moving to Hungary over this and who can blame him
I commissioned my college friend to draw them and AHHHH!!!!! ššššš

āthe parallels between Zuko and Sokka-ā hey HEY. I am grabbing you. The parallels between Katara and Azula. Both the younger, gifted bender. Each one being the inverse of the other: a living, breathing what if. Katara being horrified at what her bending can do when pushed to its limits vs Azula always trying to push hers further. Katara instinctively trusting everyone so easily, even though it burns her sometimes, and Azula saying trust is for fools, fear is the only reliable way but still losing everyone she cares about in the end. Katara yelling at her dad and being hugged in return vs Azula doing everything possible to please her father still being harshly reprimanded, so you know exactly why they both turned out the way that they did. Kataraās trauma being connected to losing a mother vs Azulaās being connected to having a mother. Katara ultimately being the one to take down Azula and standing over her, staring pitifully because thatās who she could have been, in another life. is this thing on
āWe think this may help younger orcas feed more easily, or it could also just be for fun.ā...
There have been numerous accounts in recent years of orcas ramming boatsāand sometimes sinking them. Scientists believe this may be a form of culturally learned behavior passed down through generations. Now we have fresh examples: orcas in the Gulf of California were filmed teaming up to ram sunfish with so much force that the carcasses exploded into small fragments. While orcas have been known to use force to remove flesh from prey, this is something different, according to a new paper published in the journal Frontiers in Ethology. āWe think this may help younger orcas feed more easily, or it could also just be for fun,ā said co-author Kathryn Ayres of Beneath The Waves, a nonprofit organization promoting ocean health. āOrcas are known for playing with their food.ā Orcas engage in cooperative hunting strategies that can involve striking or killing animalsāsometimes eating their prey, sometimes notāso the behavior could be described as social interaction, play, or practice as a mode of social learning. Orcas have been observed ramming whale sharks as another orca held the prey steady. Other cooperative strategies include herding mobile rays, blocking an escape path while hunting white sharks, and deliberately producing waves to bump penguins off ice floes. When hunting species like sunfish, orcas typically rely on a three-pronged strategy. First, an orca will target the pectoral fins, then slash the sunfish across its body to remove the viscera. After that, the orca will use its beak to get at the remaining tissue. The newly observed āram-to-fragmentā behavior might represent a more sophisticated version of that basic strategy. The first instance occurred in July 2024 off the coast of San Jose del Cabo in Mexico. A tourism operator filmed three adult female orcas, one male, and one juvenile catching and eating a spine-tail devil ray. Just after, the same operator filmed one of the adult females holding the carcass of a sunfish in her mouth. The sunfish had a large lateral wound, so the viscera had likely already been removed. The male orca then charged at the carcass, with the female releasing it just before impact. There was an audible sound upon impact as the carcass fragmented and bits of flesh dispersed in the water. The juvenile orca proceeded to eat the smaller fragments while the adults fed on what remained of the split-open body.
gotta admit other animals would probably use this ramsplosion tactic if they were capable of it

ADHD treatment and the gatekeeping thereof is actually evidence against "capitalism rules everything around me", and a reminder that there are plenty of decisions being made based on personal biases, moral panics, self-interested groups, etc. People with ADHD are way more effective and useful to capitalism-in-the-abstract when they can just get their medication no questions asked, and yet.
me watching monsters inc as a kid: how did it take so long for anyone to figure out that human child laughter not only produced energy like screams, but was more effective, and that children arenāt actually dangerous at all?
me watching monsters inc now: monsters incorporated, a multi-billion dollar corporate giant, stood to make extra profits off a scream shortage because low supply with high demand makes it possible to charge a fortune for a necessary commodity and everyone has no choice but to pay the high prices because they canāt go without electricity. Therefore Monsters Inc, as well as any other major powers that may have existed at the start of the era of using scream energy, fabricated the idea that only screams could generate sustainable energy sources in order to create artificial scarcity, because laugh energy was far easier to obtain and far more efficient, and therefore stood to lower the value of energy due to surplus. They also fabricated the idea that human children were toxic, in order to a) make other monsters too afraid to go near them to do research and possibly discover the secret of laugh energy, and b) to make monsters so afraid of going near them that there is a shortage of scarers, making it harder for rival companies to rise up and create competition. Even in the monster world, capitalism is based on lies, greed and cruelty, and even monster companies have no qualms about using and abusing children to maximize profits.
Watching people understand the plot lol
damn u right sorry i didnāt understand the complexities of capitalist propaganda when I was 4, Iāll try to be a better person going forward š
I feel like this theory ignores the differences between Monsters, Inc and (real world) fossil fuel industry.
Switching from from Scream to Laughter is a lot easier than switching from being a coal or oil plant to, e.g. Solar. Itās the same technology (closet doors) and the same distribution and collection system. The only change is the front line workers, and given that laughter is so much more powerful, even a bad comedian could keep their job.
Waternoose isnāt running the De Beers company, happily creating/exploiting a fake shortage to get richer. The City is suffering from regular brownouts and heās about to lose the Company, thatās why he needed to start kidnapping and soul-sucking random kids. If he knew about Laughter, he couldāve switched over for the cost of a few nights of comedy training for the scarers.
āCorrupt Executives will do horrible things to stay in businessā is true; āCorrupt executives will ignore obvious, cheap, and legal solutions to problems even as theyāre about to lose their richesā is not.
The funny thing is, the movie does have things to say about Capitalism and Business, itās just not what OP insists it is.
Monsters, Incorporated, in the movie, is the lie of the Old Company, and Sully is the Company Man. If you show up, and do your work, the Company will take care of you and your community. Sully is proud to be a Scarer, not because it proves heās cool or because heās the best, but because hes proud to be part of this Great Work that supports the city. Monsters, Inc makes electricity and he gets to be part of that.
Mr Waternoose isnāt his Boss, some old coot in charge who doesnāt get the little guy: heās a former scarer himself, a mentor to Sully. He might own and run the factory because itās been in his family for generations, but he gets it! He presents himself as wanting good scarers not just because it makes him money but because the Company Needs It. He doesnāt want to lose the company not just because he wants to be rich but because heās presenting himself as part of a system the city needs.
Itās a very out of the 50s idea, the company you work for your whole life and in exchange it takes care of you. Itās a very liberal sort of idea, honestly, this marriage of Labor and Capital.
And the filmās criticism is that The Company was a lie, it was not this happy family here to care for you, it was willing to do atrocities to keep from collapsing and it was willing to kill anyoneāeven the Golden Boy Sullyāthat might threaten that. You cannot, actually, trust Waternoose, however he presents himselfāhe is not your Dad, he is your Boss.
Itās a kids movie, of course, and not a strong polemic against the systemāso it does end with the same system in place, Screams changed to Laughter and the Evil CEO replaced with a Good Boss.
kind of disheartening whenever i'm consuming horror media and the way that it signals that someone is bad/unnatural/inhuman is just having them do something that's just like. a trait of being autistic
i think an autistic person being replaced by a doppleganger who's actually way better at the whole being a normal human thing would be much more original and horrifying. having to destroy a 'better' version of you because ultimately it's just not real... something something allegory for masking
