Enji Todoroki/Endeavor (My Hero Academia)

Problematic because: "Familial abuse, human trafficking(he bought his wife), implied marital rape, child neglect, child grooming" Propaganda: "He and his family are such an accurate representation of some people in that situation. Enji hurts his family, grooms two of his four children into being pro heroes(because he hates his own weakness and wants those two kids to be the strongest), drives one of his kids to what is basically a suicide attempt just to get his attention back, abuses and isolates his youngest child until he's 15/16, and neglects his two middle children because they don't have his fire quirk. After the whole war against the villains thing, he realizes that he fucks up and he tries his damn best to atone. He doesn't ask for redemption or forgiveness, but just atonement. And his family is all mixed up about it. His wife helps take care of him(he's in a wheelchair after the war), his daughter helps as well, his youngest WANTS to see him become better, his second youngest left because he can't stand seeing him changing(fair enough), and his oldest is in the hospital after trying to kill himself for the second time, and he is still glad because Enji comes and visits him in the hospital. Basically, I really really love their story, and Enji doesn't deserve all the hate he gets in the MHA Fandom because he genuinely did change, but he still did fucked up things for 24/25 years and he acknowledged that."

vs. Ketheric Thorm (Baldur's Gate 3)

Problematic because: "He helped Gortash and Dark Urge create the Absolute Plot to conquer Faerun with Illithid Tadpoles. He unleashed a curse on his village that turned the whole region into a shadowed wasteland. And he did all this just because he couldn’t cope with the loss of his wife and daughter." Propaganda: "He is arguably, either one of the most sympathetic or one of the easiest to hate of the three main villains, due to his tragic backstory and the disproportionate response he has to anything that goes wrong in his life. Also, the voice acting for all his scenes is so good."

Problematic because: "eats people" Propaganda: "he's supposed to be the embodiment of lies and yet! he's surprisingly honest"

vs. Handsome Jack (Borderlands)

Problematic because: "Basically a corporate dictator with a hero complex. He takes over Hyperion, declares himself the saviour of Pandora, and then uses that as an excuse to bomb settlements, kill employees, wipe out anyone he labels a “bandit,” and generally treat an entire planet like his personal cleanup project. He’s also holding his daughter Angel in a control core and using her powers to charge a Vault Key, which is the big magical/sci-fi key he needs to wake up an ancient monster called the Warrior and use it to take over Pandora properly. So he’s using his own daughter, running a violent corporate regime, and trying to justify mass murder because he thinks he’s the good guy. He also kills Roland, captures Lilith so he can use her powers after Angel dies, betrays Claptrap after getting what he needs from him, kills Mordecais pet bird, and has a whole casino later revealed to be a rigged trap that leaves people stuck there losing everything. A lot of the appeal is that he’s funny, but the actual list is like... dictatorship, child imprisonment/exploitation, murder, corporate violence, mass surveillance, revenge killings, and an insane amount of propaganda" Propaganda: 1. "Handsome Jack is awful, but he’s one of the best awful characters in games. He’s funny enough that you understand why people remember every other line he says, but the game also keeps making it worse until the jokes stop covering how terrifying he actually is. He genuinely thinks he’s the hero, and that makes him so much more interesting than if he were just doing evil things for no reason. He’s petty, cruel, charismatic, pathetic, and dangerous, usually all in the same conversation. Vote Jack because sometimes the villain is iconic for a reason." 2. "THE problematic fave for me. like yes he’s a dictator, yes he uses his daughter as a battery, yes he keeps calling everyone bandits so he can feel better about killing them, but unfortunately he is also really really funny. every time he calls you just to say something insane i’m like okay i hate you but keep talking. he’s horrible in a way that actually matters to the story, and he’s entertaining enough that you get why borderlands kept dragging his ghost back into things. terrible man. excellent villain. awful father. 10/10" 3. "this man has committed every crime available in the sci-fi capitalism starter pack and still finds time to make jokes about pretzels. he’s a dictator, a terrible boss, a terrible dad, a worse boyfriend, and somehow still the funniest person on the echo. would i trust him with literally anything? no. would i listen to him monologue for twenty minutes while everything exploded behind him? unfortunately yes" 4. "There's a reason he's in most of the games in the series. Like he's undoubtedly a bad guy but he's very entertaining to watch. Okay, so yeah this took me 6 days but I have been working on it and im not too confident about this. It was definitely tough, but I tried and i hope it's okay.

"Your target is located on P-Tellus. Take him out and you shall be paid a fortune." The Obscurus leader spoke, his voice carrying an inhuman sort of hiss with each word they spoke.

"P-Tellus…that mediocre rock..why?" The second speaker, a mercenary alien with humanoid features, stepped forward staring down his leaders, awaiting an explanation for why he is being hired to kill a member of such a primitive planet. it's almost insulting, or that's what F/o believes as his musculat tail flicks slightly behind him. "That information is out of your paygrade, mercenary. Go and take out your target unless you want to be fed to the Giantophis."

Animalistic sounds were coming from the living room, and S/I was hiding upstairs, heart pounding in their ears as they listened to the mortifying sounds that were definitely not any normal kind of animal. Grunts, heavy footsteps and breathing could be heard. S/I could not stop the shaking in his body. He did not know what to do, what if whatever is in his house found him? S/I had barely graduated high school, and had yet to fall in love. Was the seriously how he was going to go out? There is no freaking way this is it for them!

Heart dropping into his chest, S/I dug his phone out of his pocket, hands shaking as the phone blasted that horrendous ringtone, fumbling with it and dropping it down the stairs. The noises in the living room stopped, likely having heard the phone ring and get dropped down the stairs, which terrified S/i who couldn't move. Heavy, lumbering footsteps approached the stairs until S/I could see it, an outline that is.

Something clearly nonhuman but still a humanoid proportions, just tall, and clearly muscular, with a skin that seemed akin to that of perhaps an elephant in texture? S/I really couldn't tell and they definitely did not wish to get closer to find out. None-the-less fate seemed not to be a fan of S/I, as the creature picked up the device, then turned its gaze towards the shaking young adult, and crushed his phone.

"Are you the human named , S/I?" The alien's voice came out gravelly from his chest, as he held S/I by his shirt, staring the short- statured human down with his unnatural slit pupiled gaze. It's staff—something clearly more technologically advanced than most Tellus—Earthly technology, griped firmly in his four fingered-hand. "Y-Yes? Are you going to kill me?"

F/o did not reply, continuing to stare at S/I, almost like he was contemplating something. Alien F/o stares down at S/I, taking in their features, the expression of fear, and even the way his eyebrows creased on his forehad. "No..I will not…kill you." A pause of silence as deep breaths from the alien overtook the sound of S/I's own breathing.

I can't find anything for this type of relationship :(

They literally sacrifice their own lives for each other. Ochako was fully willing to bleed out just to understand Himiko, and Himiko literally did a blood transfusion(with her own blood!) just so Ochako would live.

Problematic because: "he kidnapped, tortured, brainwashed, and implanted false memories into a person working for his enemy, then used them as a personal soldier, before assassinating them for "knowing too much"" Propaganda: "The way he's written really shows what lengths people will go to in order to defeat their enemies, and how remorseless they can be throughout the process"

vs. Ashley Graves (The Coffin of Andy and Leyley)

Problematic because: "She helps butcher and eat the cultist neighbour after the demon takes his soul. During the escape from the apartment, Andrew kills one guard while Ashley sacrifices the other guard’s soul to the demon. In Episode 2, she pushes Andrew toward killing their parents so they can’t reveal the siblings are alive, helps sacrifice their parents’ souls, kills their bodies afterward, disposes of the remains, and cooks some of their meat into soup for herself and Andrew to eat. In Episode 3A, she and Andrew can sacrifice a family of campers to recharge the trinket.
