Wonderfully Wonderful Wonder

What's up? I'm doing great after coming across this artwork because it gave me a spark of inspiration. I believe that in this work, there is a wonderful balance of dramatic storytelling and fundamental artistic craft. It's drama. The scale, visual storytelling, expression, and use of environment are delightful, and I would like all of us to take a second to admire them.

Indeed! I do appreciate the scale in the work, making the Lamb and the crown puniest compared to Narinder, whose tongue is the size of the Lamb. It's a good composition! And what makes it visually compelling is the size of the arm at the front, and how it compares to the rest of the canvas, nearly taking up half of the screen on the right side.

The storytelling is simple. Narinder holds the power, and that's why he takes most of the canvas, making the Lamb small in comparison, just like the crown. And! The Lamb kneels between the threatening arm and toying Narinder, leaving little room for the Lamb itself. By the way, if you didn't notice, the illustration is split into three major columns: the right with the arm, the centre with the Lamb, and the left with Narinder.

I'm going on a bit of a side tangent, but I have to compliment the use of expressions. The crown is clearly scared or shocked. But in return, the Lamb appears deterministic, maybe even a little angry or shocked with the way their eyes narrow and frown at the crown. On the other hand, we have Narinder, who is the most satisfied cat in the universe. Also! All of their expressions are aligned in a vertical row, which is deeply satisfying.

Lastly, I must point out something small, but the use of a simple environment, a dream space like clouds, is effectively done in terms of how it impacts shading. Look closely! You can see how Narinder has light blue over their chin, clothes, and cheeks. As you have read, I've found this artwork inspirational, and hopefully you learned something. But, but, and but!
