I've started reading the first issue of the first Swedish comic book, and one thing I noticed is that Goofy has the name "Jan Rissel" in this early Swedish translation of Disney comics, instead of the name he's known by in Sweden nowadays, "Långben" (meaning "Long-legs"). I don't know if "Jan Rissel" is supposed to be some kind of pun, or just a name that someone thought sounded funny.
However, I did some quick online searching, and found an anecdote regarding the name change: Apparently there was a young Swedish boy who was actually named Jan Rissel, and after the comics began publishing, he got bullied in school for having the same name as this silly cartoon character. So his parents wrote to the publisher and complained, and the publisher actually went ahead and changed the name of the character to the one he has today.
it's a small thing but i love the setup and slow build here to introducing kaiji in part 2.... i love fkmt's use of secondary POV, i find it so effective and clever...
like, when i saw the shape of kaiji's hair peeking out here, i just had to squeal... the boy! it's the boy!!!!
i do love how the anime season opens up with kaiji's goofy ass on the run from the blacksuits, but i honestly prefer this, there's something more cinematic about if, it that makes sense? i just love build up and teasing and fkmt just does it SO well
