i know it was ultimately just a plot contrivance created to allow ds9 to dig quickly and deeply into julianβs past, but the fact that dr. zimmerman set out to create a long-term relationship doctor dating simΒ medical hologram that would be able to effortlessly and pleasantly interact with all sorts of people and starfleet medical pointed him specifically in the direction of julian bashir is hilarious to me for multiple reasons
like where do i even start
1) i full on choose to believe they picked him because he was pretty first and because heβs an extremely gifted doctor second
2) anyone who has ever met julian would tell you that heβs an acquired taste
3) zimmerman says that part of the lmhβs concept is that it is meant for scenarios where the doctor would never leave sickbay, yet his model is a man that wilts like a fussy orchid if deprived for even 5 minutes of social interaction or the ability to run to the bridge/ops to partake in the daily gossip
I literally automatically assumed itβs because heβs pretty. Like I didnβt even think about it, I was just like, βOh yeah, that makes sense, look at the guy.β
Since the hologram doesnt need to be modeled after a real doctor it baffles me that he didnβt try to ask Leeta to the basis for the MK2 while he was hitting on her since she gets along with literally everyone and is impossible to hate or be mad at for any reason
