I just wanted to tell you that a friend of mine works for Samaritan health service for their suicide hotline. She told me a 'funny' story.

The majority of her time is spent screening and blocking phone numbers so that the lines are free for people who need help. Why does she have to do this ? Hundreds of times a day men would call up while masturbating, of course they would only stay on the line if the operator was female, which the majority are.

and this isn’t an uncommon fringe thing at all - it actually happened to me. when I went to a meeting for the second time a much older man approached me and asked if I needed a sponsor. I was very young at the time and naively said yes and agreed to exchange numbers. He seemed well-liked within the group so I thought he had good intentions. Fast forward a couple days and I was struggling with thoughts of relapsing so I texted him asking him to meet at a coffee shop near me and he said “sure but can we mess around first?” I was stunned at how disgusting it was and I never went to an NA group again after that.

pick an ideology, any ideology, and at its center you will find a man who implores, with his actions, to do as i say and not as i do.

you have strom thurmond, a lifelong white supremacist who had an entire second family with a black woman. you have black nationalist figures like louis farrakhan who teach that miscegenation is against the will of god, all while he has half-white children.

you have the men who run the catholic church and publicly guide morality in all things, all while secretly raping and tormenting children and paying to cover it up.

you have the men who rule the theocracies in the middle east who rail against the west and claim their holy texts demand the beheading of homosexuals and that women play a subservient role in society by practicing extreme "modesty". they do this all while fucking white american prostitutes, spending their wealth on western excess, and engaging in the oppression of their own people in a kind of autocratic capitalism that would make elon musk blush with envy.

and don't get me started on the anti-gay preachers and politicians who hire rent boys. we all know them.

you have men i used to admire, like noam chomsky, who speak publicly about the evils of capitalism and prostitution, all while associating with and defending rapists, traffickers, and industrialists in his personal life.

you have men like karl marx, who decried the manner by which labor is stolen by wealthy men, all while stealing the intellectual labor of his wife and refusing to give her credit for her ideas.

i am sure any number of male hypocrites popped into your own heads as you read this. i am actually hard-pressed to think of a single man who has been shown to be intellectually honest and ideologically sound in his intentions and his praxis.

your daughter wears a pink shirt with a unicorn on it? aw, what a sweet little girl. nobody takes her seriously.

your daughter wears basketball shorts and a t-shirt? aw, look at her, trying to be one of the boys. pick me. an egg waiting to crack. insecure.

your daughter wears tight clothes and loves dresses and short skirts? whore. she asked for it. scandalous, unbecoming of a woman. perverted and unpure.

your daughter wears baggy clothes that hide her figure? she must be insecure. fat. a prude. a boy. show a little skin, men like that.

but not too much skin. unless you’re a famous woman, an actress, or a singer, because then you have to appeal to the male gaze. but then the males you are trying to appease will call you a whore, a bitch. you don’t have talent, it’s just your body that made you famous. but if you cover up, you’ll lose your male audience. your producers can’t have that.
