I don’t know how to put this pain into words. Just a short time ago, we rushed my mother to the hospital after her blood pressure suddenly rose to a dangerous level. We were terrified, but we kept telling ourselves that everything would be okay. Then the test results came back and shattered every hope we had. The doctors found a blocked heart artery and told us she urgently needs a cardiac catheterization. Since that moment, our lives have been filled with fear, sleepless nights, and the constant worry that we might lose her before we can save her.😔💔

The catheterization, medications, and hospital expenses cost $1,200. To many people, this may seem like a number. To us, it is the difference between hope and heartbreak. Every moment without treatment fills us with more fear. I don’t want this story to become another story of loss because we couldn’t gather the money in time.💔

Jonathan Joss was an Indigenous, gay man who was murdered on the first day of Pride month as well as Indigenous History Month. He died protecting his trans husband. Homophobia and racism aren’t marks of the past, and this is a heart breaking reminder of that.
