In every relationship or friendship worth having, there will be inevitable moments of awkwardness, anger, miscommunication, frustration, or impatience. It’s how each person decides to navigate that that determines how much they care about one another. If you internalize those moments as an overarching statement that speaks louder than all the good times you had with this person, you are practically shooting yourself in the foot. If you decide to walk away at natural moments of friction, either that person didn’t matter all that much to you, or you do care but elect to self-sabotage all moments of connection because you fear abandonment or negative reactions from people you care about. Either way this is unsustainable and guarantees a lifetime of loneliness.

Currently reading a book that feels like it only exists because some guy wanted his DnD campaign to be picked up as a TV miniseries.

Having finished the book, it is dying to be literally any other format than the one it's in. Most of its worst structural faults would no longer be such an issue if it was an audio drama, or a serialised comic story, or the aforementioned TV miniseries. It wouldn't save the thing - the characters all have the same voice and there are far too many of them, the world-building is lazy and the author can't allow any moment of real emotion without breaking the tension with a joke - but at least it wouldn't be a 592-page novel
