i was on the train and 3 drunk girls saw me and said i had nice brown eyes so they sang âbrown eyed girlâ to me
I threw up at a frat party and I was crying in the bathroom and a drunk girl went upstairs to get me a shirt and came back with a sweater and a kitten.
At the last party I went to three drunk girls fishtail braided my hair by committee
a drunk girl drew an eye on the back of my hand and then patted it with satisfaction and  whispered âcount olafâ
once at a barbecue a drunk girl gave the surgical scar on my shoulder a butterfly kiss and said âyouâre curedâ
A drunk girl at a bar I was at became worried that I wasnât getting enough nutrition and proceeded to hold peanuts to my lips and just keep saying âpeanut peanutâ until I would eat it. And after I allowed her to feed me a peanut she pet my hair and said âThank youâ.
Drunk girls, saving your life one wtf at a time.
Girls are a fucking gift donât let anyone tell you otherwise
allow me to introduceâŚ
Pride and Prejudice takes place in a society where youâre not supposed to talk to/dance with/*cough*proposemarriagetocoughcough* anybody without first going through a highly formalized little âintroductionâ ritual. This can involve going to someoneâs house and leaving your card, and then waiting for them to return the visit, which is what Mrs. Bennet is badgering Mr. Bennet to do re. Mr. Bingley in chapter one, or, if youâre out in public, say at a ball, you get a mutual acquaintance or master of ceremonies to do the honours and vouch for everybodyâs good character. At the Meryton Assembly, Darcy refuses to be introduced to Elizabeth or anybody, because heâs a Grade A Snob. Theyâre all too low-ranking/provincial/unattractive to notice, and he doesnât care who knows it. Seriously, bro, if you donât want to dance, just go play cards in the other room with the geezers, or go home and put your grumpy ass to bed. Stop wallflowering and making a spectacle of your arrogance. You have options, here.
A few weeks later, after Darcy has maybe unbent a bit (read: decided Elizabeth is pretty), Sir William Lucas tries to introduce them again. But! Because Sir William is a country bumpkin, he goofs the phrasing in such a way as to imply Darcy is Elizabethâs superior (âMr. Darcy, allow me to present this ladyâŚâ instead of, âMiss Elizabeth Bennet, allow me to present this gentlemanâŚ.â If a man and a woman are of equal rank, youâre supposed to introduce the gent to the lady.). Elizabeth doesnât even let him finish. This time she declines the introduction and skedaddles, flat-out refusing to launch their acquaintanceship on any supposition of inequality.Â
After that, thereâs really no non-mortifying way to remedy the situation, soooooâŚ.these idiots spend the rest of the novel yammering awkwardly and irately at each other apparently without ever having been introduced, which is fucking hilarious and taboo as fuck.
Not to put too fine a point on it, Jane Austen was doing something VERY interesting here.
âThe roof constitutes an introduction.â
All that business with Jane being taken ill and Elizabeth essentially inviting herself to stay at Netherfield - after that, Elizabeth is officially acquainted with everyone else who happened to be staying in the house at the time. All of them are now obligated to acknowledge each otherâs correspondence and bow when they meet in public. They can quite properly converse.Â
The ladies at Netherfield start out imagining, and with good reason, that Elizabeth has come to ingratiate herself with them. But Elizabeth really is only there because she was worried about Jane. (In those days, it wasnât all that unusual for a cough to turn into a corpse overnight.) Elizabeth makes a point of not intruding on her hosts at dinner, or at all, until Jane is well enough to boot Lizzie out of her room. Even after that, Elizabeth has to be pretty much begged to talk to the others there. From here in the 21st century it looks like Elizabeth just doesnât like them much. From the Darcy/Bingley point of view, she is not presuming on their acquaintance. Elizabeth is signaling as hard as she can that, as far as sheâs concerned, all of them can forget they ever met her the minute they leave Netherfield, and no hard feelings. She is not trying to turn her sisterâs cold into an occasion for her own advancement.Â
Mr Darcy, being both shy and the constant target of opportunists of all stripes, is utterly smitten by Elizabethâs insistence on not presuming or intruding.
Oh ho, I have lured a true geek out of the woodwork! Thank you; I stand corrected; I kind of wondered if that would happen. My source was Helena Kelly â a lecturer at Oxford who has published a decent amount of Austen scholarship â whom I hoped would have researched to hell and back before making such an audacious claim!Â
The Bennet women have already visited the Bingley sisters by the time Jane falls ill, so Elizabeth wouldnât be out of bounds in showing up on their doorstep (early hour and her hair, Louisa! aside). So the piece Kelly missed is that as soon as Elizabeth spends the night at Netherfield, sheâs acquainted by default with all the gentlemen too.
Itâs worth noting that none of this has happened when Elizabeth first addresses Darcy. She notices him staring at Sir Williamâs party and cheekily demands an explanation before Charlotte dives in to extract her and hustle her off to the piano. So their relationship still begins with a bit of boundary-pushing. But your explanation of her behaviour at Netherfield is really cool, and applies neatly to both her initial appearances and that amazing bit in the garden where she refuses to âruin the picturesque.â
who on earth coined the stereotype that girls are obsessed with changing clothes iâve been wearing the same t shirt and pajama pants for two days now and the same bra for like three
OOH OOH I KNOW THIS ONE! so in the elizabethan era queen elizabeth couldnât appear like she was having That Time of the Month in front of the male members of her court, and you bet your ass if she had to remain in the public eye while she was bleeding from the snatch then the rest of the female courtiers did too. because they didnât have handy dandy tampons back in the day, they would basically shove a rag down there and inevitably bleed onto the inner layers of their clothes. she what did they do? changed clothes. about eight times a day to be precise, and they did that all month long, so none of the delicate male constitutions would be offended by unseen yet implied bloody lady parts. this is part of why fashion was such a huuuuuge cultural item (and the secondhand clothing industry was such a huge part of society) because they had to appear like they were just doing it out of vanity/showing off their wealth. this became pretty much the standard mode of behavior for ladies who had to be out and about during shark week, right up until some nurses realized that the specialized gauze pads they used to plug up bullet wounds would work great for other such bleeding holes.
so yeah if you were wondering why dudes think women change their clothes a lot its because they donât understand periods.
It always comes down to men not being able to handle periods
âEvans might have been born with the superhero gene. He says that he doesnât need to train excessively hard to stay in shape â about an hour a day in the gym maintains his superhero physique â and adds that he can eat what he wants [âŚ] âThatâs the most irritating quote Iâve ever heard; Iâm sure itâs true, and Iâd like to rewrite it,â says Downey [âŚ] Johansson recalls nibbling on kale chips and dry popcorn on the set of âAvengers,â and turning around and spotting Evans with a handful of gummy bears and Skittles.â â Variety, March 25, 2014
i realised there was no gender neutral for âmy sister from another misterâ or âbrother from another motherâ and so I present to you all âmy sib from another cribâ
I love it

They need to redo twilight by just having the actors go back to the filming locations and try to recreate it from memory
And this is how you set boundaries
cats be like: ok im gonna radiate serotonin now

Fun fact: when I see cute animals, I forget English and automatically revert to my native Hungarian. I donât know what bystanders make of me, reciting guttural gibberish to rabbits.
But the real question is, what are you SAYING to the rabbits? Is it âRABBIT! rabbit rabbit rabbit rabbit rabbit rabbit bunny bunny bunny awww cute bunnyyyyyâ?
Well, I usually say the Hungarian equivalent of âbun bun bun lil bun look at your tiny spoon-shaped ears awww bun brave little lawnmower bunâ, but sometimes I say âhey rabbits, my sisterâs gonna go to med schoolâ because I think everyone should know.
I live in Japan, and I always revert to English to talk to small animals, and I was cooing at this tiny little fluff machine of a puppy in baby english like âhello youâre so cute such a cute hello hello yess youâre goodâ and the 70 year old Japanese lady that was walking him started to *translate the baby talk english into Japanese* for her pup. She wanted to be sure he understood it too.

ACCURATE.
The aliens look on at this weird phenomenon and wonder about what other life forms on the humanâs home planet will illicit this reaction
Donât even joke aliens are totally going Youâre a human!! at us
We donât even have to look that far!
Elephants have the same emotional reaction to us as we do to cute little critters!
So probably when they see us theyâre reverting to whatever is the elephant equivalent of inane baby speak!
I have âYOUâRE A KITTY!ââd my cats ever since I first saw this XKCD comic.
when i was really little, my babysitter only spoke spanish with me so i became bilingual but i never knew when i was speaking spanish or english. one time i told my mom i wanted an avocado & she understood but then when i said the same thing to my babysitter later that day, she burst into tears with laughter because i was saying âquiero abogadoâ which means âi want a lawyer.â
imagine a two year old repeatedly saying âi want a lawyer!â as an adult laughs at her.

The enjoyment I get from removing the wax packaging from a lil cheese wheel is immediately aligned with entertainment zoo animals get when they have to solve a puzzle or get into a box to find a treat. Iâm just an ape and the babybel cheese people are my enrichment team
I think about this post a lot. I talk about it a lot. Itâs to the point where, at work when we donât like someone, we go, âthat person is NOT on my enrichment teamâ because apparently the biggest insult, we think, is that that person is not successfully zooing us.
this is incredible thank you for telling me
