this is how that scene went, right?
Ocean Jasper dice :3
I really like this website because somebody will be like āthereās nothing wrong with darting out from behind a parked car into traffic, bootlickerā and you can be like okay this clearly evolved from a valid point about how the US is too car-centric. But something happened to it.
there is no nursing shortage btw. just a shortage of nurses willing to work under the terrible, unsafe conditions created by capitalists š
how to solve the nursing shortage:
mandatory patient-to-nurse ratio laws modeled after the laws in California
pay nurses more
š¤·āāļø
perpetuating the myth of a "nursing shortage" only benefits the healthcare administrators fucking us over, giving them an excuse to claim that they can't help but short staff the hospitals because there just aren't nurses to fill those roles
nurses literally make up a full 1% of the US population. there is no nursing shortage
3. also unions

Hey if you're coming to Washington DC for the Fourth of July: don't
We're having our turn in the heat wave and reports from the National Mall are brutal already this week. That screenshot is today's forecast (courtesy of the Capital Weather Gang) and tomorrow and Saturday are confidently going to be worse than this is.
The national Mall has no shade on the grass and you will be exposed to the sun constantly while also experiencing extremely high humidity. You will not be allowed a bag over a certain size to enter the mall and it has to be clear. You cannot have an insulated water bottle, it has to be clear. Reports are that there are two entrances to the area so you'll have to wait in line to even get in. I cannot find a number on how many cooling stations there are, except that it's "few" to "none" depending on what accounts I read online. Vendors are allegedly charging more than the posted prices and seem to be unprepared for actual crowds - these are the official vendors not the scam food trucks that park all around the edges of the mall. And that's the extent of the planning done because it was not a priority to make sure attendees don't pass out.
My local friends and I have reached a consensus that tourists are going to get extremely sick and none of us know what the EMT response or planning is on the mall this year. People are going to die.
Please stay out of this. It's not worth your health. Get your relatives and family to stop. I can give you recs for so many DC museums and things to do if you want to make the most of your trip. Any other local can too.
A good day for Trump supporters to get a heat stroke
I cannot convey to you how much I do not want literal goddamn children to die. Also frankly, how I do not our local emts to have to watch any tourists die on their watch.
There is historically an assumption that attendees will have access to planned amenities. It's not in place this year of all years. There is a very real risk here and I'm trying to warn people, because people simply don't know how awful this is about to be.
Get fucked. This is very clearly a post trying to help people instead of rubbing my hands in glee.
i have lived in the dc area for over 30 years, and the july 4 fireworks are simply just a huge event for tourists and locals, regardless of who is in officeāit's a yearly tradition for so, so many families. the city gets absolutely jam packed with people, especially with children and older adults.
and dc is a swamp, literally. when we hit a heat wave like this, the heat just settles; it doesn't break at night and there's just zero relief, especially without shade in places like the mall. and without cooling stations or literally any other planning or precautions, people will get sick. they will get hurt. they will die.
if you know anyone planning on going, please tell them to stay home or find something else to do. watch the fireworks from somewhere else.
hoping everyone stays cool and safe.
Another user here pointed out that most of the roads are closed around the mall. This will impact medical care and response.
Schism? Schism today?
Wow, I didn't have "catholic schism" on my 2026 bingo card

Heatwave Recipe Recommendations
The heatās been brutal this summer but we still gotta eat! If youāre like me, heat might suppress your appetite, and the last thing any of us want is to sweat over a hot stove and oven when itās already boiling outside. Here are some of my favorite hot-weather recipes to keep hydrated and fed with when the weather is unbearable! (All recipes should be un-paywalled).
NYTās best gazpacho (lives up to its name!!)
Persian cold cucumber soup (if you like tzatziki you will like this!)
Eric Kimās cold noodles with tomato (infinitely riffable Korean flavor profile ā for a creamier and less brothy take, try these cold sesame noodles too)
Vietnamese chicken and herb salad (this is an excellent time to get a rotisserie chicken so you donāt have to turn the oven on)
Radish sandwiches with butter and salt (and in a similar vein, if you dig this flavor combo you should try this Polish cottage cheese dip on some good rye bread or even crackers)
Itās still a little early in the season, but you can never go wrong with a BLT (or, if you donāt eat bacon, try this tomato furikake sandwich in its place)
Infinite iterations of pasta salad! You can use anything you got but here is a template I like.
Assorted dense bean salads. This back pocket canned salad is a weird combo of jarred ingredients but it slaps, this hoagie-inspired one is super satisfying, and cowboy caviar is a classic for a reason.
Poke bowls! Canned tuna mixed with some kewpie mayo and sriracha is a budget-friendly riff on the usual ahi and makes everything taste like a spicy tuna roll, but use whatever proteins you like, this is more of a loose template.
Please feel free to add some of your own favorite summer recipes in the replies and comments! Weāll get through this together. š¤š¤š¤

yeah i drive the truck that isekais all those lonely 20yo NEETs and bored salarymen. itās a really hard job. they keep sending me to workplace counselling after each hit. āitās normal to feel guilt at ending someoneās life,ā they say. how do i tell them thatās not what makes me feel guilty? ābut itās okay. heāll live a better life in another world.ā yeah, with 100 girls who could have lived normal lives but got drafted into being in these boring dudesā harems. how many womenās lives have i ruined. and they donāt even know. they donāt even know
Sounds like you need "His Soul is Marching On to Another World; or, the John Brown Isekai" by CabbagePreacher, an actual fic on AO3 about famed abolitionist martyr John Brown getting isekaied to such a world and going on a rampage abolishing harems.

Jesus Christ
Remember that even on your worst days, somewhere, out there, a trans girl has spun her skirt for the first time. The world is good.
like why do people act like the south is a lawless christian wasteland where anyone who isnāt cishet and white gets beat to death for existing. yes bigotry is worse in the bible belt but for the love of god you know people exist there just fine being lgbt and gnc. southerners arenāt all mindless conservative apes, most of them are just normal ass people. you ever seen the average woman walking around a walmart in georgia? braless makeupless and not conventionally attractive but existing just fine and peacefully. like cmon humans are more complex than that. youāll be fine
does anyone else think about how brave all their friends are and get really emotional about it
I'm glad everyone is alive rn

there was another update

Not on purpose!
Good. One of the things I love about the USA is that we have birthright citizenship. People come here for better chances and better lives. That's the whole fucking point.
It's really fucking telling, the people you see freaking out about this.
I've seen people online saying we should be pregnancy testing "at the southern border," of course, just in case someone is trying to smuggle a foetus in.
I can't even put into words the fucking rage.
Not to mention the fact that for many of us, our families that have been in the USA for 10 generations werenāt actually considered US citizens until a few generations ago. The 14th Amendment established African American freedmen and Black people born in the U.S. as citizens in 1868āseveral years after emancipationāand it took a couple more years for the Naturalization Act of 1870 to actually create legislation to begin a formal citizenship process. Last month was the 102nd anniversary of the Indian Citizenship Act that granted birthright citizenship to all indigenous Americans born within U.S. borders without stripping them of their tribal rights and lands. For decades Asian people born in the U.S had ever-changing legislation in regard to their citizenship, based on which nation their families immigrated from, until the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965. Latino people have been living in the U.S. as citizens technically since the U.S. acquired the land from Mexico with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1850, but it didnāt protect them from horrible discriminatory practices and prejudices based on their original nationality unfortunatelyāand it hasnāt stopped being deemed a political issue for ignorant people since.
Let there be no peace or stability for white supremacist assholes. Remind them they are stuck in the same idiotic thought processes that trapped their ancestors generations ago too.
