I actually don't think you should only read stories you relate to or only write about identity groups you're part of and I think acting like this is the "correct" way to go about fiction diminishes our compassion and understanding and curiosity and I do think this needs to become a less controversial opinion. 🧘‍♀️

i feel like a lot of fandoms pride themselves on being gayer than the source material but have they considered being less racist and less misogynistic than the source material as well . could be revolutionary

unfortunately with a popular ship sometimes you can see the vision and understand perfectly why it’s popular and why people are passionate about it, but then the people who like it will make it annoying anyway

a cruel and unusual punishment is when not only is a character trapped in a bad show but the character isn't even that good in the first place. but they could be. they have potential that could be realised if you got your hands on them. but you can't. because what you have to realise is that they're not a diamond in a pig trough, they're a chunk of irradiated rubble in a nuclear fallout zone.

controversial opinion, but characters are so much more interesting when you are able to forget about shipping them for a moment and actually appreciate their unrelated personal plot/arc. if the most interesting thing you can think of about a character is the ship you like them with, then I don't think you actually like that character very much
