Hey there! I’m reaching out as user @/anew-flame falsely included me in a list of people who are closely associated with the outrageous people who are slandering and whitewashing yours and other people’s art. I’m not entirely sure how they got the idea that I’m associated with these people. I’m firmly progressive, in support of a free Palestine, anti-AI, queer myself, and doing my best to unlearn the racism inherently ingrained in much of western society. I think a quick look at my blog will show all of these stances quite clearly. I am in support of YOU, and your fight to get these people removed from tumblr for the harassment and overt racism they have displayed towards you and others. This user has me blocked, so I’m not able to message them and ask them to remove me from the list. A mutual of mine reached out to make them aware that I may have been included in error, and ask that I be removed. It seems like they removed me from their original post at this point, but still reblogged a version with my name on it. I’m not sure if you are close with or connected to this user, but I wanted to at least attempt to set the record straight by reaching out to you, offer my support, and to make you aware of it.

I didn't actually tag it with muslim wlw or any Islamic-related tags because I really wanted the faith of either woman to be up to interpretation, since we have huge religious diversity within our communities I didn't want to potentially exclude anyone or push ideas that Palestinian = Muslim. So if you do still decide to include it, maybe just a side note about Palestine's religious diversity? The religion of the women is up to the viewer, but there is nothing intended - good luck!

Having some time to think about it, I don't even think I am even that upset about being stalked by the neo nazi (I mean, it is upsetting and I hate that STILL nothing has been done) but genuinely, I find the reactions people had to me talking about it even more annoying. I'm not exaggerating when I say this either.

I don't know what it is about Dragon Age fans specifically but I have never seen a group of people so eager to take the struggles of marginalized people as a means of showing off to their followers how "against racism" they are. What I experience with racist harassment in this fandom is only as important as what other people can get out of it for themselves. And this isn't something new I've experienced with this fandom either. Some of the people lamenting the continued harassment I've gotten are the same people who harassed or ignored me back when it was still '"""""unpopular""""" to support Palestine or Palestinians. I remember you. I still hate you. You know who you are. No, I will not be the bigger person.

I'm also just so. So. Tired of being this fandom's go-to Palestinian creator. My value in this fandom literally only comes from when I can seemingly represent my entire identity, as is the case for many minority creatives, and just exists for someone who can pat themselves on the back because they followed a Palestinian artist or whatever while still ignoring BDS or turning a blind eye to the liberal zionism in their own spaces. I don't want to sound ungrateful for the traction I've gotten at all but I often have to think about how much is actually genuine, and I have blocked people who I believed to be only hanging around me to make *themselves* look better. Again, with Dragon Age fans I feel like my value only comes from what other people can make off of me talking about racism or zionism, nothing about me as a creative or just a person. This has been going on for yearssssss.

I get a lot of comments and asks about people enjoying or even being inspired by Asma for their own characters, I have no doubt that these are in good faith with the best of intentions, but I feel like I am literally the only person who can't enjoy her while the rest of the fandom can. She has been getting called a terrorist, a monkey, a gorilla, ugly, and man-like for as long as I've had her - I don't hate people taking inspiration from me, in fact it's very flattering and I'm honored, it's just hard to think about it in a happy way right now because I receive so much vitriol for having her when others, especially other white creators, don't get that same targeted racist backlash.

I know I am not the only marginalized creator in the fandom who feels this way, and these are feelings I've also seen expressed with Black and/or Indigenous fans in my circle, so in no way is what I am feeling unique. I just hate that everything I experience with this fandom just exists to be used by others, whether it be for stupid character wars or making xyz user feel better about doing next to nothing for Palestine. I don't feel like a human being to a lot of people here, so I think I'm going to take a longer break from Dragon Age as a whole for a bit. Still love Asma and Cullen, you can't take that from me, but I think I need to relearn how to enjoy these games without this headache nightmare of a fandom masquerading as arbiters of progressivism.

I’m at my limit here, this situation has gone on for months and Tumblr hasn’t done a damn thing about it. I send out DMCA strikes so often, and the posts get taken down, but this nazi is still allowed to keep his account, still allowed to stalk and harass me, still allowed to whitewash whatever piece of art I make. His account got taken down for maybe a day or two and then was allowed to reinstate it. Because fuck Palestinians, POC, queer or trans people - right tumblr?
