this scene is so important (to me).

i do headcanon pete as demisexual and the way he says this with so much conviction. i know he probably doesn't even realise what his sexuality is or might be, but he knows that whatever it may be, it has to be with a special person. and eventually, vegas becomes that special person. in some ways, even if pete was interested in vegas before the safe house arc, he never thought he wanted it all with vegas. more like it never even crossed his mind. but because the safe house arc happened, pete did explore his own self and decided that this man was his special person. i don't think he would have kissed vegas otherwise. pete has been shown to resist torture, the only bit of psychological manipulation vegas even bothered to do with him was calling his grandma. pete was well within his own head and perfectly fine when they had sex, and sure vegas was goading him, but pete definitely did not give in to him as a way to get out of the safe house.

he does dissociate and drop right after, and in that scene we see he is already bound in cuffs again, and i wonder if with that faraway look he is contemplating if he made a mistake. if he actually gave something precious to him to a person who wouldn't value it.

and right after, vegas tells him, that just because they had sex does not mean that he can talk back to him. the fact that pete was more open with him after sleeping together, must mean that pete holds it to a higher value than vegas does. and we know vegas holds it to the same value as well, otherwise none of the succeeding things would have happened. but in that moment when vegas flips out (and rightfully so, i would flip out as well), we see both vegas the man who was made and the man who he wants to be, but yes, he sets things in motion and shit fucks up.

but in the following events and the gap in canon, i do believe pete gave it much thought. his own sexuality, his desires, his need for vegas to be in his life. hence, the post credits extra and how pete looks comfortable in his own skin, when he says he is just following his heart.
