Name: TheEnchantedMaple, uses Maple for short. Age: 19 Gender: Female, uses she/her. Species: Human, aside from being a Mage. (In one of my AUs, she's a bat hybrid.)
Appearance: Maple has a light skin tone, her pupils are simply black, and her long hair is a shade of autumn-orange, like leaves. Some of it is styled in small pigtails on top of her head, secured with black hair ties with silver spikes. The rest of her hair is left unstyled.
Maple wears a white, slightly baggy, long sleeve under her oversized black shirt, which has white lightning on the front. Slightly tucked under the shirt is her skirt, which is black and has a tiny slit, with slightly lighter fabric underneath. She also wears tights that go just above her knees and black shoes.
Personality: Maple is curious, eccentric, and deeply fascinated by her magic, enchantments, potions, books, and long-forgotten knowledge.
She treats these casually, like everyday topics, instead of scientific and clinical.
Despite her odd interests, Maple is compassionate and kind. She enjoys helping others and believes knowledge and magic are meant to be used for the greater good, like improving people's lives.
Maple is confident, playful, and sometimes chaotic, making the odd choice to use complicated magic for simple tasks and problems.
Magic: Maple doesn't have much lore, but she was born as a Mage. Her Mana is completely natural and regenerates on its own; this process can even be accelerated!
The Magic, or what I like to call Mana, appears as any shade of orange to the eye, creating glowing runes, sparks, embers, and even magical particles during spellcasting!
Staff: As mentioned, Maple's magic regenerates.
Well, Maple's mana runs out and leaves her exhausted if she uses it raw from the source.
That's why she created her staff, a large dark metallic wand with all sorts of engraved shapes, with a crescent moon on the top. In the middle of the crescent moon floats an orange orb, which is her Mana outside of the source, but in the form of an orb.
This is a confined version, which simply already exists outside her body, so when she uses the staff, she doesn't get exhausted. She can always recall it, of course, plus it helps with stability and precision!
Of course, the mana inside runs out, that's why she basically refills it every morning.
What is important is that her staff isn't the source; it's a tool.
Abilities: Maple is implied to be capable of advanced spellcraft, with a variety of spells and mana manipulation, though it wasn't perfect since always; she's still learning, after all.
But that also doesn't mean she doesn't know how to use it, even if it doesn't work well.
Some examples are: Offensive magic, energy-based spells, teleportation, healing magic, defensive barriers, magical repairs, enchantments, potion creation, creating magical tools, decoding magical languages and symbols, and understanding and studying long-forgotten magic.
I like to specify: one of her powers is creating objects, or rather, summoning them right into her palm, using a pocket dimension with infinite space, storing an infinite amount of every object that existed and exists. This doesn't include future or non-existent objects.
(clarified: if it existed in the past or current, she can summon it, outside of that, she can't).
Further limitations are obviously her mana mastery, etc.
Again, I'll specify: just because she knows all these spells and has these powers doesn't mean she has mastered them. She's only 19 after all and is still learning.
She knows them, yes, but she hasn't mastered them. There is always a chance of failure, if not uncommon. The strain isn't to be ignored.
So yes, she could have a library of knowledge on Mana, but it all comes down to her execution, experience, and stamina.
