Kids helping kids: fun times at the rink

My 11yo daughter, a kid with a natural social disposition as well as a desire to be involved in activities, has been invited to volunteer in the Learn to Skate program.

So after her final baseball game on Saturday morning, which ended in a silver medal, I took her out for a donut and then home for a bite to eat. After that, we went to the rink. 😃

Same same, but different

Yesterday I lost my reading glasses.

I had them at one point while shopping for my son (clothes, mostly). I remember distinctly that I had them on my face both in Walmart and at Winners. I needed to read the small print on the tags to ensure I bought the correct sizes.

Anyway back in the car I would consult my photographed list in my phone and also remember having had my glasses then.

Fibe tv is ridiculous

This new Fibe tv thingy we bundled with internet service is ridiculous. I mean, there are thousands of channels (free for two months, then we’ll go back to the basic package). So now if I want to watch any given channel I have to consult a freaking spreadsheet. Example: Food Network is channel 1603… I gotta type in four digits for crying out loud! (more…)

On Monday the girl child went off to school as she always does. I spent my morning hours doing what I usually do while simultaneously doing a load of laundry when suddenly, I got a text from her.

Non-habitual routines: the new normal

Twice this weekend my partner got up at 5 am and left to go fly a plane out in Peterborough, 2.5 hours away. Yesterday and today.

Today marks the beginning of a new milestone. Although school doesn’t begin for another week, my highschool boy has his orientation at his new school this morning. He and a friend are taking the bus. 😀
