Whumptober 2025 No. 29
Prompt: Fainting
Pairing: Daryl Dixon x Reader
Warnings: Medical condition; medical emergency; hypoglycemic episode
A/N: I am no expert on hypoglycemia. I only know what little Iâve learned through my new issues with it.
CAH culture is oh my goddddd i am so tired of like. looking up "fruits with high sugar content" "foods with high sodium content" and everything being like "high sugar fruits TO AVOID!!!" and "high-sodium foods to NEVER EAT AGAIN!!!" meanwhile i'm looking up explicitly to know what i can eat to help myself out during an episode of low sugar or low sodium. is there not one website in the entire world capable of treating the nutrition facts of different foods as morally neutral, or at least that can avoid fear mongering about how eating one singular bowl of instant ramen will instantly give you high blood pressure?
CAH culture is hating diet culture đââď¸
WE WIN THESE âźď¸âźď¸ Endocrinologist referral for hypoglycemia it was so worth having my phone scream at me occasionally about it for like a week. It's healthy to feel completely fine when a CGM reads a blood sugar in the 50's right? Right. Totally normal. I'm sure of it. (Sarcasm)

Life as a Plural Barista: When Fronters Have Clashing Sweetness Tolerances
Some of us in the system love sugar and can eat sweet things to our hearts content and seemingly not really experience any ill effects. However, the rest of us have a pretty low sugar tolerance: we will have one mildly sweet thing whether it be a beverage or pastry or something else and we will feel like we have hit our sugar max for the day and will feel sick if we have anything more thats sweet. We also have hypoglycemia which throws a wrench into the whole situation (our symptoms vary due to one of our other conditions so sometimes a little bit of sugar is a huge problem and other times we can eat like anyone without a blood sugar regulation disorder and experience no symptoms at all).
This is a bit tricky at work because we have an entire cafe at or disposal so we can make drinks for ourselves whenever we want. We have run into several situations because of this:
1. The people in/near front have different sweet tolerances. The person wanting to consume more sweets wins and then we feel sick for several hours afterwards. Sometimes this results in us wanting more sweets while feeling sick.
2. Person in front has no desire to consume anything and doesnt make a drink during the shift and then everyone else is sad that we didnt get our shift drink.
3. Conflicting drink desires of those in/near front and we end up not making anything (or the person/people in/near front dont know what they want and we dont make anything because we dont know what to make)
4. Person/people in front want all the sweet things and end up spiking our blood sugar too high and then we have problems later.
5. Fronters switch over the course of the shift and we end up making multiple beverages as the fronters change.
6. The fronter tries to be responsible with their caffeine and sugar consumption and ends up not making anything because everything they want isnt a great choice.
We hadnt really thought about it until now, but its seems like a great way to help track who is around and/or fronting at work.
