Being “saved” isn’t about being whisked away and all your hardships gone, it’s about the people and things that remind you life is not all hardships, it is kindness, love, gentleness, softness, care, thoughtfulness. It is many moments made up of your lifetime that keeps you going and showing you the world is still beautiful, and will always be. Despite.

I feel like there’s a lot of untapped potential for military liminal horror.
An endless stretch of beach blanketed in heavy fog, littered with slumbering rusted debris, half sunken at unnatural angles in the sand.
Industrial bunker tunnels that seem to go on forever. Sometimes the lights shut down with a heavy mechanical thunk and you have to ignore the echoing sirens until the red emergency light comes on. You have to ignore the way the sirens get so loud, they start to twist and melt together into something like screams. There’s an echoing footfall matching your pace, but occasionally it will disobey your pattern, and you’re saddled with the fact that it might not be your own.

I went through my entire childhood getting this feeling with Pineapples, only in my 20s after realising I was vomming everytime I had pineapple did I realise... I am in fact allerigic to pineapple.
I'm pretty good at avoiding it, but once a cafe I was at cut the cake I was eating with the same knife they used for pineapple upside down cake and I spent the next two hours wretching my guts out over a bin. NEVER went back there again.
The above also applies to neurodiversity. As a kid I had a insane fear of green triangles chocolates in Quality Streets, I didn't like the way they made me feel when I looked at them. I'd get a really strong taste of metal on my tongue, my mouth would get super wet, I'd get an odd sense of coldness through my body. The same with beetroot coloured things. I could not force myself put a beetroot in my mouth.
In my twenties I realised this was actually a colour related thing, specific to teal and whatever colour beetroot is. Whenever I looked at something in those colours same reaction that got stronger the longer I looked at it or thought about it. I thought this was completely NORMAL. That everyone had a colour they could taste that they didn't like!
It wasn't until my early thirties when my brother was like I hate yellow, and I was 'oh because it tastes like metal?' and he was like WHAT? and my husband was like ... do you... do you taste colours???
I ended up googling it and finding out I had synaesthesia, which I just thought was a cool little quirk. Six years later I was diagnosed with ADHD which goes hand in hand with synaesthesia, and I realised I had been neurodiverse my entire life and because when I was growing up there was such a focus on boy ADHD (hyperactivity) noone including myself was aware I had it.
