Good afternoon, fellow hellions! I wanted to start this week by sharing my first cosplay experience with you. So, without further ado, let's dive in!
Back in August 2013, when I made my first-ever post on here, I was just getting into cosplay. My first cosplay was Rinoa Heartilly from Final Fantasy VIII. I actually bought the costume on eBay and didn't even have a wig—I just dyed and cut my hair to match her style. It was pretty hilarious showing my hair stylist a picture of Rinoa and asking her to make my hair look like that. But, hey, it worked out! I found some boots at Walmart, and in my mind, I was all set!
Flash forward to day one of Otakon. It was overwhelming, to say the least, but I quickly realized I was just scratching the surface when it came to cosplay. I saw so many incredible cosplays and suddenly felt a bit inadequate in my little Rinoa get-up. But everyone was so helpful! I asked a ton of questions, and they pointed me toward websites for contacts (I didn't even know you could get contacts just for cosmetic use back then), wigs, and shared so many makeup tips. I didn't wear any makeup for my cosplay because I had no clue how to apply it. Honestly, I've never been big on makeup—still not, But that convention was such an eye-opener for me, and I've learned so much since then. I'll delve more into that later on.
So, that's how my first cosplay experience went! Tomorrow, I'll share the other two cosplays I purchased back then, but I'll combine them into one post instead of two separate ones. If you stuck around this long, thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed it, and I can't wait to share more with you tomorrow 🫶😊🖤
