I find it so exciting to look back at my old writing projects and see how much I've grown. I spent a solid decade writing stories that I never shared because I could tell they weren't very good but I didn't know how to make them better. Several years ago I was so frustrated because I would try to write a book, but I got stuck in the middle and couldn't figure out how to complete the plot.
Last year I finished writing a book with character development and a beginning, middle, and end. I just re-read it and I'm so happy because I actually think it's *good*. I'm proud of it! I want to share it with people!
Now I'm working on a new project--and it's a trilogy! I've never written a series before. I could barely finish a standalone book before. It's really difficult and I still have a lot to figure out, but I'm having so much fun! I keep smiling at random moments because I find the characters so delightful. I can't wait to finish my first draft so I can ask people to read it!

It makes me so sad how often the people I serve at my job feel the need to thank me for being nice. My response is always the same, that it's just me being me, but it breaks my heart that KIND is not the default in our world.
There is a time and place for everything and I don't think anyone would call me a pushover, but I think far too many people think that in order to be firm and have good boundaries, you have to be cold. That breaks my heart. Be kind friends. It literally costs you nothing. In fact, I would argue that you will gain insurmountable wealth (non monetary of course) from your kindness. Be kind and watch the world bloom around you.
