dinosaur fleece fabrics
Little video of processing the Swedish Helsinge lamb fleece. Helsinge is a heritage breed known for it’s double coat - the inner coat (thel) is super soft and warm, whilst the outer coat (tog) is coarser and shiny. The different properties of the tog & thel make each more suited for certain applications (ie use thel for something warm and toasty for next to skin, & use tog for outwear that needs to endure weather or abraison). To separate the coats you use double tine combs and comb away until all the strong fibers are aligned so the tog can be dized out leaving the thel caught between the tines.
I had free time so I made my Lamb. They hate violence and so suck very bad at their job. Their cult takes a 100 years to start because they keep trying to talk to heretics and ennemies.
They come off as very naive and a bad fit for the One Who Waits but since they're the last of their specie he's forced to be patient. They're not naive, they just very strongly believe life doesn't have to be all kills and blood and tries their best so their flock isn't confronted to it, or as little as possible (even if it forces them to face it in their place). Their love for their flock ends up being what drives them on.
Livestock 1/11 - Alpacas!
I want all the livestock to have little happy/unhappy quirks. Will alpacas spit at you when they're unhappy? What could be the happy quirk? Doing little jumps?
What could you be crafting with alpaca fleece? Customise your outfits? Will alpaca fleece give you fire-resistance and water-proofing buffs in comparison to sheep fleece?

English Leicester fleece prepping has begun!
I washed some handfuls earlier in the week. (Cold water and scour and detergent! No heat needed!!)
Homemade temp comb, the table set up doesn't work amazing. So handholding the small piece and combing each end.
I enjoy these little bundles :)
First samples spun and plied. 2 and 3 plys and one off the drop spindle. Still want it thinner though
