It’s one thing to call ahead of time if you knew you were going to be late, but it could have been prevented.

It literally could have. Thank you. God, I don’t get why people are so defensive over a fucking dog-- it’s not even about the dog. It’s about its owner being incompetent. 

As frustrating as I’m sure it can be, sometimes they don’t have others to share their emotions or story with. It may not make any difference to you but it could make a large one for them to be assured that they are heard. Although I will never understand being late, that is one thing I find so hard to do unless it is truly a major emergency.

Then find someone else. I have things to do. Emergencies are understandable and being late is understandable- making it my problem isn’t. 

Well, some receptionists are very approachable and people feel comfortable sharing with them! And sometimes life is out of our control and things happen. I was almost late for work this morning because I spilled coffee all over my white blouse. I had to change into a new outfit before leaving the house.

I should not come off as approachable, ew. I don’t want anyone sharing anything with me except their name, date of birth, and whether or not they have an appointment. I’m not a therapist. Almost late isn’t late and work has a little more grace for being late than a dentist office where patients are literally waiting.

I’ve had people be late to get their car fixed for reasons like that. It’s pretty traumatic honestly if your dog gets hit by a car. Usually it’s pretty simple to reschedule an appointment. If she was being an ass about it that’s one story but if she was being nice then I think it’s not that big of a deal.

She was an hour late to her appointment and was giving me a hard time about not being able to just walk right in. When I told her we’d have to reschedule because others were actually on time for their appointments she almost went full Karen. I don’t have any interest in entertaining Karens.

I guess I could… and I guess I don’t have to complain so much… I don’t know, I just thought maybe venting about it a little would help but now I’m more confused than before. And hey, I don’t think my brain is a pea..?

Maybe you should vent to someone who cares, then. I am not the one and today is not the day.

Life happens; even to the most organized people. Did she need to tell you all the details, no.  But I’m surprised that as a receptionist you don’t deal with that more.

I deal with it as often as you’d probably think. Doesn’t make me care about it any more-- if anything it makes me care less and less every time.

Mm, as I recall, being a therapist wasn’t in my job description. Your father knows that I’m good at my job, hence why I have it. 

Depending on how it happened, it actually isn’t, because not everything is as simple as just crating the dog.

… No but “boba bitches” sounds kind of catchy and might be a place I’d go to if it was called that. Or, like, the name of a podcast or blog where I review different boba places. Too bad there aren’t very many even if I drove out of town.

Stating obvious facts isn’t rude. What’s rude is being late to an appointment for a reason that isn’t a real reason and then making my day harder because of it.
