here there be whump

whumpees who believe their whumper saved them <333 whumpees who believe their whumper created them <333 whumpees who feel indebted to their whumper on a moral or metaphysical level <333 and whumpers who stoke this belief and shamelessly exploit it <33333

child assassin whose main birthday present/celebration is being "finally old enough for" their first kill. they knew it was coming (though they tried not to be presumptuous), and they tossed and turned with a pit in their stomach the night before. but everyone's nervous before a big milestone, right? once Whumper is there, so proud and excited for them, it's easier to be properly excited and grateful too.

i think it's compelling if this isn't an overtly evil and harsh 100% of the time whump setting (though i do love a pedal to the floor evil scenario). i'm stuck on the thought of Whumpee getting, like. cake. a genuine celebration with their caregivers (whumpers). presents, but clearly things tailored towards their assassin role; weaponry and associated equipment, exercise gear, etc. presents for the person Whumpee is expected to be. and of course, "getting to" kill someone, framed as an honour and in fact a treat.

*likes a character* okay now give them such a high fever they start deliriously rambling and spill all their secrets :D

Hear me out...... what if.... a character got hurt... and another character.... comforted them afterwards.....

torture the character some more. put her in her worst nightmare and don't let her out

Sure we all love it when caretaker asks "are you okay" and stoic whumpee goes "I'm fine" when clearly not. But what if whumpee is so out of it that they just shake their head and lean on caretaker's chest.

the best thing you can do to a character make them averse to touch and absolutely starved for it

Whumpee won't give in. There's no point. They've learnt from experience that it won't make the pain stop.
