I haven't seen this circulating here on Tumblr, so I decided to make my own post.

last saturday, in Porto, there was a pride parade going down the street and this old man was standing there, by his front door, waving the portuguese flag. most people on the parade probably thought the same: old person waving the national flag? he's probably protesting against the parade, he's a nationalist of some sort.

then the old man called for that person to come near him. the whole parade stopped. everyone just.. stopped moving. they didn't know what to expect, and most expected the worst. and that person decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and approached the old man. and then... they traded flags, he hugged the person and then he waved the pride flag happily. everyone cheered him.

such a wholesome moment. 🥹❤️🌈

More training absolutely will not and cannot reduce the number of disabled people cops kill.

Cops kill members of vulnerable populations because they can get away with it and are even incentivized to do so, not because they need more funding to learn to recognize and interact nicely with members of a vulnerable population.

A lot of these murders happen after a police officer was explicitly informed about the victims’ disability (see the case above!) and “wellness checks” on disabled people with their disability as the explicit reason for the call are frequently violent. In some wellness checks, police start firing without saying a single word to the victim.

Having disability experts available doesn’t help—see the case above where the police killed the social worker lying on the ground with his hands up!!

This fundraiser was created for me to cover the costs of an uninsured ER visit bill (almost $4751.36) in October last year.

The rest of the raised funds are going to cover the costs of an active wheelchair with push assist (together can cost $5000 and sometimes upwards, a wheelchair like that would allow me to be more independent) my regular medicine, doctor visits, blood and other tests, medical equipment, etc.

Months ago I was kicked out after being the victim of dv and fortunately not long after I was able to return home where until now I have been at risk of being homeless at the whims of my 'family'. Unfortunately to obtain emergency housing I need a letter from both my employer and doctor supporting my claim with a waiting period of several years.

At the moment thankfully all my basic needs are being met and I am also trying to save more money to be safe for when I leave or get kicked out in the future. Lately I find myself falling a bit behind as constant school payments, expenses such as groceries, medical bills, menstrual products, etc and 'family' members continue to drain me.

I'm currently trying to raise $30AUD so I will be able to have some money without stressing over being short on budget. I wanted to give smt in return so below is my masterlist of all my writings which you can also find on my kofi. Mostly JohnLock hehe.
