“Date?” Coco asked incredulously.

“I said get to know.” Velvet protested hastily, feeling the onset of white, hot panic seep into her veins.

“I don’t think you did.” Coco remained adamant, her eyes flickering, almost imperceptibly, to Velvet’s lips before meeting her gaze again.

Velvet faltered as Coco performed this deliberate action.

“I... anyway, I just knew you were someone I wanted to get to know when you told Carisa Arden that the only thing more disgusting than her casual racism was her out of season handbag.” Velvet laughed.
