Please memorize some "i desperately need out of this conversation because I cannot behave like a human any more" scripts. Please. I can even supply some. Let me get on my computer but, my god, there are formulaic ways to say 'i have no ppl juice rn and you speaking to me any more will cause me to conjure vivid, beautiful images of me THROTTLING YOU" without being a giant douchebag and it worries me that you don't know this
âIf you keep speaking to me I will lash out for reasons that are not your fault. I need a few minutes to clear my head but am not done with the conversationâ script: âhey, I am really sorry to leave all of a sudden, but Iâm going to [step outside/go make myself something to drink/head to the bathroom] for a few minutes. When we come back, Iâm happy to keep talking though. This is a really [interesting/important/complicated/etc] conversation, and I donât want to just drop it.â
'Mid conversation I ran out of people energy, and I wonât be able to keep speaking constructively. I need to leave now or I will explode' script: âHey, Iâm sorry, but itâs getting late, and I should really be going. Itâs been really lovely speaking to you; we have to get together again sometime soon. But I really need to head out. Iâll talk to you later?â
âYour opinions are bad and you should feel bad about them, but I have some reason to not tell you that. instead i want out as fast as possible from this conversation and/or to reroute it IMMEDIATELYâ: âI can see why youâd think that, yeah. I get what youâre saying, but, you know, I donât really know this topic well enough to talk about it, you know? What about [tangential, barely related thing that is safe to talk about that they also care about]?â Wait a few minutes, nod and mmhmm at some stuff, and then check your phone and go âOh, no, itâs getting pretty late. I have to run, but Iâll talk to you later, alright?â (This one is very useful when your unfortunately unavoidable but incredibly prejudiced grandparents come around and your parents will be mad if you start screaming arguments with them over the Thanksgiving table, especially if you can reroute them into a topic of conversation that other people care about rather than running away wholesale.)
âyou are so fucking annoying. never speak to me againâ or other variants of âfuck offâ that you dont want to just say that way to someone you know because that is fucking mean. basically a friendship breakup script: âListen, I think youâre a great person, and I donât want you to take this the wrong way because itâs really not personal, but I think you and I are very different people, with very different interests. Thatâs not a bad thing, but I donât think that you would enjoy spending much time with me, and vice versa. I wish you the best, but Iâd rather we just stay acquaintances, alright?â (Donât do this unless you absolutely mean it, but itâs good to know what to say when you mean it.)
i can do more but i canât think of any off the top of my head, but even in miserable interactions with people you still have to know how to treat people with courtesy and be a little polite. there are many reasons you could want to know how to tell someone to fuck off impolitely, but those are easier; if you want to try and be cognizant of other peopleâs feelings while still making your point itâs, you know. hard. hopefully these are helpful

nothing frustrates me more than when adults refuse to even slightly indulge the questions and thoughts of children. i remember one time when one of my younger cousins accidentally stumbled across the concept of purchasing power parity because she realised 10 rupees which bought her 10 candies in India only bought her ~3 candies when we went on holiday to Japan, and when she asked her mother about âwhy the same things cost different amounts in different placesâ my aunt had the audacity to call her spoiled for not understanding the ââworthâ of money, thatâs not what she was ASKING damn it!! your daughter just set up her own big mac index and realised a key metric of macroeconomics!!! how do you not find that utterly fascinating !! why donât adults talk to children !!
i just remembered this is the same young girl who discovered solipsism right before my eyesâ she and i decided to go on a zipline together, but iâm slightly scared of heights, so i naturally didnât enjoy it as much as she did (she LOVED it). once we got off she, still giggling and giddy, said something along the lines of âiâll never feel the fear you just felt because iâm not scared of heights, and you will never know the happiness that i feel right now.â then she kind of just stood there quietly for a bit and said âwow, itâs crazy that iâll only ever just be me.â and then she just⌠trotted off⌠to ride the zipline again, as if she hadnât just realised and calmly accepted something that throws me into an existential crisis every time i think about it.
Wow, a little girl Iâve never met in my life made me question my reality. I mean i question my reality very often but Iâve never thought about this before.
Alright, Itâs been a while since Iâve bothered to watch a Marvel movie, but are you guys being serious about that guy in Civil War claiming that the total of people killed in the Battle of New York were 74? Like what. the. fuck. Loki was sentenced to a millenia in solitary confinement for killing 74 people?! That âs so disproportional! There are real terrorist whoâve killed millions of people and only get twenty something years in prision and then exile. What the actual fuck? How does asgardian justice even work?
mcu writers are either stupid or were high when theyâre writing the scripts.
Indeed
Also, guys Wanda Maximoff killed we donât know how many people in Johannesburg via Hulk but she was fine living in a mansion đ
I guess that killing and destroying cities is okay as long you are not Loki.
not-so-friendly reminder: Asgardâs justice system doesnât exists.
ODIN is Asgardâs justice system.
Odin didnât punish Loki for the deaths he caused on Earth, but his DISOBEDIENCE, for not falling into line like Thor did, for trying to rule Earth without Odinâs permission, for attacking a planet that is under Thorâs (and therefor Odinâs)Â âprotectionâ.
Lokiâs crime wasnât murder. It was rebellion. Rebelling against Odin, wanting to be Odin.
.-
About the writers: yes, we see this double standard all the time.
No one knows how many Frost giants and Fire giants Thor killed, as long as he was doing it âfor the right reasonsâ, it doesnât matter. (Apparently getting violent over being called princess is a right reason???)
Wanda (and Pietro) were the Bad Guysâ˘, but now their crimes are being down played cause they switched to the Hero⢠side of things.
Bucky is the only one who could get away with it, seeing he was brainwashed and controlled by Hydra to do the killing. Why doesnât Loki get the same pass, knowing he was brainwashed, tortured and played by Thanos? Right, Loki is a Bad Guyâ˘, we are not supposed to feel for him, or validate his pain as we did for Bucky. (And you can see this clearly in the differences between Steveâs treatment of Bucky and Thorâs treatment of Loki.)
Steve, Natasha, Clint, Tony⌠none of them has their hands clean, but again, theyâre the Herosâ˘, their bad deeds are either redeemed or justified.
Itâs all go back into the black and white narrative. Character that coded as a hero are allowed to completely redeemed themselves without much trouble as the character that are coded as a villain, even though they literally did the same type of crime. Character that are coded as a hero didnât have to die for a payback to their crimes, meanwhile itâs a common thing in fiction for a character that are coded as villain/anti-hero/anti-villain to die as a payback for their crimes, for their redemption arc.
About the number 74. It could be a mistake from writers. But in fact it makes sense. Before Loki appeared in Shieldâs base, Fury ordered evacuation because Tesseractâs energy levels werenât steady. So by the time the base collapsed it was mostly empty and Loki only had killed the guards he encountered which were less than 10 people. Hawkeye under Lokiâs mind control killed two people in Stuttgart. So when Natasha told Thor that Loki killed 80 people in two days, she actually lied(no surprise there), because Thor was defending Loki and Natasha needed to turn Thor against Loki even more. In the final fight in New York, Avengers set a primeter and kept the fight there and police evacuated the area by Capâs orders. So the number of casualties because of Lokiâs attack is low.
Odin didnât sentenced Loki because of the number of humans he had killed. He didnât care about them. That was just an excuse. Odin sentenced Loki to solitary confinement for 4000 years because Loki dared to question him, disobey him. Loki wasnât under Odinâs control anymore. There was no more use of him. So Odin imprisoned him.
Most of MCUâs heroes have blood on their hands. But one good action and they can be redeemed because the are the hero⢠but when it comes to Loki, no matter how many times he saved the day, he can only be redeemed by dying because he is the villainâ˘. He saved Jane and Thor twice in TDW, he saved Asgardians in TR, but no, people are still saying he was a villain that only redeemed himself in IW by dying for Thor.
Loki killed 74 people.Â
He managed to âattackâ the realm under duress and while being watched and after being tortured and he still manipulated events to ensure possibly the lowest death count while giving the battle the illusion of a convincing plan.Â
He announced his hostile presence and intent clearly. He put no effort into concealing his location. He let himself get captured for no reason other than to cause his only opponents to squabble. He sat down and watched Thor and Tony and Cap hash things out. He attacked the one location personal to an avenger and prominent enough for plenty to be alerted of the portal and flashy enough to be explained by the big ego he was showing off. Loki literally told Tony âthat was the planâ when he was told he got The Avengers against him.
And yet no one looked back at that and found anything strange about the attack.
No one thought it was strange that someone known for their intelligence would use such a flimsy plan (small bottlenecked portal over a well-known city to slowly let an army through in waves) or that his words could be interpreted as true projections or that his erratic behaviour wasnât normal.
All of this
I get mad when antis or Lokiâs fake fans say we Loki stans act like he is innocent puppy when we defend him.
We dont.
We arent saying he hasnt done anything bad. We are saying that he has done the same amount (or even less amount) of bad things than (some) heroes, but only his mistakes and wrongdoings are constantly being reminded, meanwhile what heroes did is forgotten or,to be exact, not talked about at all.
The double standards pisses us off.
And because its majority of audience that dont see all of this,it just goes to show how, how do i put this so certain people dont get offended, how NOT VERY SMART audience is. They blindly accept the narrative Marvel is showing them and never question anything.
A hero could literally wipe out the entire city without a reason and audience would spit out 100 things in their defence.
Loki, after being tortured by Thanos (and enduring, thing about his durability and strength) attacks NY brainwashed and blackmailed and influenced by the weapob he was given and he is threatened literally in front of audience in the pretty long scene and yet they still come up âhe is evil and he just fooled you with charismaâ.
Dammit. This whole conversation about double standards always makes my blood boil.
Wintergatan - Marble Music Machine (2000 marbles)
This is incredible! At first i was like hmm that doesnât sound like music, then the dude drops the beat hard.
@zooeyscigar and @bootsnblossoms, I think youâll love this, darlings!
*jaw drop* Not only is the sound amazing and gorgeous, but to think someone spent probably hundreds of hours to dream this up and make it⌠Human imagination and ingenuity is incredible.Â
This is the prototype! It could only play the one song and the forces of the marbles started tearing it apart almost immediately. Heâs building a new one, something he can transport for tours and do multiple songs with. You can find him on YouTube giving weekly updates on how the new one is doing.
Wouldnât it?

Am I allowed to be sad about my birthday? Not because I'm getting older, but because I used to look forward to them and I don't anymore.
I would get to see all the people I cared about in one day and now a lot of them are gone...I miss them

I think I already reblogged this but im gonna do it again because this is a good reminder on how toxic gatekeeping it.
Iâm reblogging this for the amount of thought that was put into figuring out the necessary configuration for a mertaur wheelchair.
MMMMM, the LAYERS to this.Â
Sheâs technically a monster too. She might not look it at first glance and seems mostly human, but it isnât deniable even despite her looks compared to the other monsters.Â
But she realizes that she is still not like the rest of the monsters either and may not have entirely the same experiences as them, which is why she feels that she might not belong to or deserve to go to the support group. By sometimes passing as human, she feels she isnât worthy of the space.Â
The sad reality though is even though sheâs mostly human in appearance, that tail she has undeniably would still cause her some struggle. Humans are still gonna look at that tail and think sheâs a freak. There are probably still accommodations she needs because of the tail that she may still struggle to have access to. Even if it is just the tail, that tail is still enough to other her from humans and cause her problems and discrimination.Â
She should get to belong in that support group even if she gets told sheâs not monster âenoughâ. She still shares some of the same struggles as them that are caused by being a monster, and needs support.Â
This is an excellent demonstration of the flaws in the concept of passing privilege. Bravo to the artist.Â
NOW I will reblog this.
this is good
Iâd just like to add, see how they behave when theyâre angry/frustrated/exhausted, and if you see something that concerns you, wait until theyâre calm, and then talk to them about it.
My husband used to yell when he got frustrated, but after I explained to him that I found it upsetting, he stopped yelling and started consciously working on asking for help before he got to that level of frustration.
When Iâm upset over something, or just in a bad mood, I tend to withdraw. My husband explained to me that it makes him feel like Iâm mad at him, so now when I need some space, Iâll tell him what Iâm upset about, or that Iâm in a bad mood for no particular reason, and I need to be alone for a little while.
See your friends and partners at their worst, but donât assume that their worst is immutable. If someone loves and cares about you, theyâll try to accommodate you to the best of their ability.
^^^^ This is the best advice Iâve ever seen on this site, and it is so important. Communication is everything, and is 80% of the reason my husband and I have such a healthy, strong, and supportive relationship.
Wait. Thatâs illegalÂ

i canât talk shit about the pirates of the caribbean films as if elizabeth swann becoming pirate king didnât hand my entire ass to me and make me the gay i am today
these 2 looks basically defined my sexuality and iâm not afraid to admit it
things pirates of the caribbean got right:
1. will and elizabethâs love story
2. elizabeth becoming pirate king
3. avoiding sexualizing elizabeth or the other female pirate characters in the first 3 films by allowing them to wear period-accurate pirate outfits that arenât tailored to be revealing and impractical for âsex appealâ just because theyâre women
4. hans zimmerâs entire score but especially the iconic âheâs a pirateâ main theme
5. When the movie came out, morally-gray characters like Jack were actually not really a thing yet in pop culture, and itâs not Piratesâ fault that there are a ton of stupid shitty copycats out there.
6. I run a corseting panel at cons and literally use Elizabethâs lace-up scene as a video clip of what historical corseting was actually like, because the only thing they got wrong in this scene is that tightlacing wouldnât be a thing for about another 200 years (and you couldnât tightlace with the corset style Elizabeth is wearing anyway). Itâs one of the most accurate corseting scenes Iâve ever seen.
7. Willâs hat.
8. That scene with all the pirates on the gallows where that little boy starts singing Hoist the Colours? Yeah, thatâs fucking legendary. The rest of AWE was kind of a trash fire, but that scene gave me goosebumps.
9. Thereâs this great shot in the first one where they really drive home the class differences inherent in this time period by having the governor talking about progress and civilization to Elizabeth in their carriage, and then they cut to a shot outside the carriage where a beggar gets splashed by mud from the wheel. Itâs a perfect way to underline that everything is not, in fact, a nice little upper-class fairytale, and to give some weight to Willâs storyline, because he has a lot more in common with that beggar than with the governor.
10. For its time, the CGI was fucking amazing.
11. And letâs not forget the work of the makeup department, which had to actually invent new ways of putting on makeup for this movie.
12. The governorâs death scene. Holy shit.
13. They could have gone with a Jack/Will/Elizabeth love triangle, but they didnât. There are some hints Jack is in love (or at least in lust) with Elizabeth, but he recognizes that she loves Will, and thatâs that.
14. Youâve got to admit that wedding was unique.
15. The introduction of fantasy elements to historical fiction outside of Tolkein-esque fantasy, and how it contributed to and expanded the Fantasy Media boom weâre still enjoying today.
1. They had a woman of colour play a goddess.
2. They had a woman pirate right in the first film, when the tradition is to only show male ones (hell, the PotC ride at Disney had a wench auction scene until recently). And it was a female pirate of colour at that!
3. Elizabeth may not have known how to fight in the first film, but she wasnât helpless either. Her first instinct was to fight, but she also had the brains to recognize when it was best to hide instead. Plus when given the chance she stabbed Barbosa that one time.
4. Elizabethâs lack of fighting ability was not simply because she was a woman, it was clear it was due to her societal circumstances, since we saw other women of different socioeconomic backgrounds being able to fight (and when given the opportunity to learn Elizabeth took to fighting like a duck on water).
5. The Hoist the Colours scene where we see pirates of multiple ethnicities and their varying flags, reminding us that pirates came in all shapes and sizes and werenât just white men.
6. One of the Pirate Lords being yet ANOTHER woman of colour. She may not have had much of a speaking role if memory serves, but even her presence is already a big deal.
7. The pirates accepting their King is a woman without much fuss.
Pirates is amazing I will not here a bad word
Davy Jones CGI is legendary and a ton better than some of the stuff done today đ
Iâm pretty sure that female Chinese pirate was a nod to a real, documented female pirate king who was Chinese and had a whole fleet of ships at her disposal but I canât remember her name rn
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ching_Shih
My favorite part about the Bretheren Court voting wasnât that they were against Elizabeth for becoming King as a woman and newcomer. They were pissed at Jack for being a chaotic neutral who broke the decades long tradition of an egotistical stalemate by voting for someone besides himself.
Also, the deleted scenes from Black Pearl and At Worldâs End that divulge more of Jackâs troubled past, like how he was branded as a pirate by the East Indian Trading Company because he stole a ship full of slaves and freed them.

Pages 52, 53, 54, 55, and 56 all at once!!! Â Whaaat?!
this will probably never happen again
Ooh this is sweet
Wow, this was actually really helpful for helping me understand demisexuality more. I never really got it before but now I feel like I know a bit more about it, thanks OP.
anyone else get the constant fear that there are unspoken social rules you dont know about (especially in new situations, like when i first started taking the bus, i was afraid i was doing it wrong lol) so youre just always on edge and kind of⌠watching how other people act so you can copy the âcorrectâ thing to do
