Swtor 7.8 galactic threads full thoughts
So it’s been some time since the last Swtor update due to the BioWare to broadsword giving over. At the time many were rightly skeptical but since this point we’ve truly seen how determined EA is to run BioWare into the ground so if anything Swtor escaped more of that.
Swtor has been kinda stewing waiting for its next update and it was rightly kept back while the voice actors strike was happening. But even before that when legacy of the Sith came out it was easy to get caught up on quite how short it was.
Sure the idea was to release updates as they went into that and the whole of 7. Was legacy of the Sith but still. The updates that did come out were quite fun imo but they all focussed heavily on the hidden chain side of the conflict when to me malgus and the “legacy of the Sith” was the thing that had always intrigued me.
When we captured him I was surprised but given our power level it’s understandable, still it felt odd. Either way it built the story to the last ever BioWare update when shae freed Malgus. I must admit I can’t exactly remember shaes reasoning but she’s always been a bit of a morally grey character. Plus I’m playing a sith so tomato tomato on her allying.
Still a lot was on this update for getting back to that legacy of the Sith part, Nul was touched on and talked about but the focus was just that. I like Sa’har but it took a long time to get that holocron.
But anyway this update, I think it’s safe to say it finally got back into this Nul and legacy of the Sith stuff. The missions were as fun as any Swtor mission is but the storylines were a decent romp with about as much questing as legacy of the Sith on release tbh.
I liked the lesbian mandos it’s a long way for Swtor to have come from the no gay romances to have these two front and center kiss.
Nuls experiments and philosophy has been interesting to dig into and especially the way she hid her experiments from vitiate with a shiny new weapon or two was something i appreciated.
Returning to Ilum felt very narratively satisfying and showed a clear understanding of continuity and more to the point a show that broadsword know the story.
The conversation between Lana and my Inq about the idea of Malgus’ beliefs and joining him was a particular highlight showing a great understanding of Lana’s character.
Finding Nul trapped while a theme that never stops in Swtor made for a fun fight and added to the inqs do not steal my body list
Malgus’ idea to destroy or change for good the Jedi and Sith is great to me, it’s different it’s not Jedi vs Sith which feels so played out in the Swtor canon after the eternal empire was so different. I’m curious what exactly it means and the fact we could posit the question that the idea of changing that was not a bad thing was very interesting.
Lana again kept it so real saying there were points but their methods didn’t reflect well, she’s such a well written character.
All of this is to say Malgus’ MO is quite fascinating and deeply different from a power hungry Sith or a god like being like Tenebrae. It’s in line with the end of chapter 3 and builds on what his plans were at that point would that we didn’t stop him.
It all feels connected which is what I want.
Another point i enjoyed was the frequent options to keep things from the dark council and remain as neutral as onslaught allowed, I always want my alliance to be seperate.
And I may as well stop beating around the bush JADUS!!!! My guy is back!!! And by the looks of things he may be working on our side? I genuinely couldn’t tell his intent but his involvement in this is curious and makes complete sense. I’m not sure if his model is updated but it looks good.
It seems with Jadus, the references to malgus’ original plans and Talos that the team at broadsword are familiar with the story but I don’t know how much BioWare showed them the direction for this story before they bounced.
Either way it was fun and got me excited for the conclusion of this arc, it feels like it’s coming together and I’m excited to see where they go
Swtor 5.8
Darth nul trying to steal my inqs form
Stay back slut
Broadswords first story decision in charge of Swtor: we’re gonna make two lesbians kiss on screen and no one can stop us
Playing the new Swtor update and Kyradia gets to hang out with Talos again!!!! Finally a Sith inquisition companion gets to do something even if it is my least favourite

people who write fics. how do you feel about comments on super old ones you wrote like 2+ years ago
I'm on my hands and knees begging y’all to comment. I don't care if you went through my sister's attic and found my twenty year old fanfics in spiral bound notebooks, please comment!!
I don't care if I'm fifty years dead and you find my last work scrawled on the inside of my coffin, grab a psychic and comment!
absolutely flabbergasting to see people who have so enthusiastically succumbed to despair. like okay denethor, but some of us are gonna actually face the armies of mordor in battle nonetheless.
Top things I fucking loved about Veilguard, in no particular order. Also, here be spoilers.
1. Davrin's banter with Solas at the end of the game. Just so much "Go fuck yourself, old man, this ain't about you" energy.
2. Erika Ishii's Rook performance. No shade to the British feminine VA, I just started a Rook with her, and it's fine- good, even- but Erika, they knocked it out of the goddamn park.
3. Taash's companion arc. It's so... Visceral. It's raw. And honestly, it gave me more insight into how I (as a cisgender person) can support someone who isn't cisgender. I'm not saying I didn't know before, but there were a few lines of dialogue that I was like "Oh, I need to remember that." (Specifically- "I like being a woman, but if you don't, that's something to consider." Or whatever it was)
4. The Final Fantasy X grid unlock system that you can respec at any time. HOLY SHIT, I did not realize how much I would like that until I had it.
5. The fact that every class has ranged and melee abilities. Again, holy CRAP, I did not realize how much I'd like that.
6. The hair! It's so swooshy! It's so bouncy! It flips around and has texture and it's so amazing!!!
7. The FACE CLOUD??? At Weisshaupt??? Holy SHIT, I was fucking terrified and it was so great. Also Ghil in general just constantly made my skin CRAWL and her voice was SO perfect.
8. Neve just being *chef's kiss* she's such a noir detective and I love her, I love how unapologetically she's written, I love her dialogue at the end if you have her break the wards.
9. Solas being FULLY in character. He's manipulative and conniving and also tortured by grief and regret and love, and they did not back away from the messiness of his character for a SECOND. They did not wash over the horrific shit he contributed to, and they didn't say "it's okay he did that actually."
10. The character creator. OMG. EVERY GAME DEV NEEDS TO TAKE NOTES, BECAUSE HOLY SHIT. They gave the people what they wanted and I have never been so ecstatic about eyebrow choice.
10. Okay, I know people have opinions about Rook, but let me tell you, Rook is the first character that I felt like I really COULD be. Maybe it's the heavy ADHD vibes that Rook gives literally all the time, but like. I identified with Rook as a character, as well as with the companions. I loved how pissed off they could be, and how sarcastic, even as they fought like hell for the world.
11. The solavellan ending. It was... It was what I thought it would be, but better. It was somber and bittersweet, and full of love. And I love that it wasn't a given. I love that the player was offered the opportunity to say "you know what? I don't think lavellan should be with this dude anymore." I loved that consent-- even for a pixel reconciliation-- was sought.
12. How much this game is about grief. Regret is the word that keeps being thrown around, and that's definitely a theme, but... This game is about grief. It's about grieving not only death but loss in general. It's about how people respond to that-- and how it's different depending on the person, on what is lost, on how it's lost. And it's also about hope. How important hope is, how the smallest thing can give it to you... And how it can be false. How that sometimes doesn't matter, because even false hope can propel you forward. How hope and grief intermingle, even when everything seems lost.
I might add to this list more, we'll see.
all of this

I just finished Veilguard and god, I have so many feelings right now. The game was fantastic, and I will beat anyone who tries to tell me otherwise over the head with Varric's books.
Astarion: So what's for dinner? Gale: I can't tell you, it's a soup-prise! Astarion: ... Astarion: Is it soup? Gale: I soup-pose it could be! *winks* Astarion: Please, Gale, enough with the soup puns. Gale: Wow, you're soup-per mean. Astarion: STOP! *one hour later* Astarion: It's fucking tacos?!?!?!
Kyradia (Sith inquisitor), eating cereal: Ah, Hello again. We really need to stop meeting like this. Kavaraa (jedi consular), who walked out of her bedroom in her house into her kitchen: Maybe we would, if you would sTOP BREAKING INTO MY FUCKING HOUSE!!!
Entropy: If I fall… Karlach: I’ll be there to catch you. Zai'ri: *looks at Lae'zel* What if I fall? Lae'zel: Then I’ll fall with you, never leaving your side. Minthara: *watches these two interactions* Minthara, to Nyssa (durge): And if I fall? Nyssa: I’ll be the one who pushed you.

Lae'zel: don’t panic, i have a few knives up my sleeve for situations like this Gale: don’t you mean tricks? Zai'ri (gith tav): no, she doesn’t Lae'zel, taking dagger out of sleeve: no, i don’t
Entropy (tav): *Laying face down on the bar* Astarion: So Karlach said she liked you? Entropy (tav), muffled: Yeah Astarion: ...and you asked her to marry you? Entropy (tav): Yeah Astarion: …and?! How’d she react?! Entropy (tav): Dunno, I ran before I could scare her even more *Meanwhile* Karlach, kicking in the door to the Wylls’s room with 12 bottles of champagne: Wyll! Babe! Holy shit! I'm gonna get married!
