Uggggghhhhhhhhhhhh

So I wasn’t able to extend the rental because someone had already reserved the car and had to return it today. In order to rent it until the end of the month until I should hopefully not need one anymore, is supposed to be $835, but since I have been using them now for rentals for 3 months, the manager is willing to let me pick up a car tomorrow and use it until the end of the month for $560. Now I don’t expect to be able to get this in less than 24 hours but if by some miracle I can within the next few days, it would be huge because just ubering to work and back is $40-$50 a day, not including doctors appointments, groceries, etc.

Quick synopsis for those who aren’t aware: my mom and dad died and I do not have any family to ask for help. I was rear ended by someone who totaled my car, broke my leg and back, herniated 8 discs and displaced 2. Documentation is available in earlier posts if you’d like.

I know this is a lot, but I cannot afford to lose my job on top of everything and need to try and secure a vehicle so I’m not spending $350+ a week on rides. new year new me, yeah? one can hope this year will be different! for those who don’t follow I lost my mom and dad to cancer and prescription drug interaction. I caught Covid and was left with lasting heart issues. I was living in my car for a while, and lost my job but thankfully have secured housing and got a new job. Then another person totaled my car, broke my leg (& back) and I’m still dealing with the repercussions of that. In all honesty, this isn’t even the half of it, but I just am looking for any help so that I hopefully won’t need to beg for help all year. Any help towards my rent, the car rental I have, my heart medication, the doctors visits/medications/therapy from the accident, or even just helping someone out who lost their parents. I don’t have anyone, no siblings all my grandparents died, it’s just me (& my incredible friends). So if anyone can help with reblogs and donations of any amount would be so helpful, I’m just trying to raise a large amount so I won’t be stuck asking repeatedly.

I'm being driven crazy. The harrassment is unending. Emergency rental relief has been delayed by my landlord's refusal to participate. My Thanksgiving/Early Christmas sale yielded one sale that etsy hasn't remitted yet and was less than $50. Which to be clear, I'm supremely grateful, it just didn't catch my rent up.

Hello guys, sorry for long time no art but I’ve been busy on my other platforms sharing resources and news for the Black Lives Matter movement, so art is currently on pause.

Either way, this is a guide I illustrated for user chivrik on Instagram on how to properly blur and de-trace protest photos. Many protesters have gone missing or turned up dead because they were traced through images they appeared on. Don’t help pigs and protect one another. ACAB and Black lives always matter.

Activists wonder is They’re Being Targeted”; “@NewJerseyOAG put a moratorium on Clearview AI’s chilling, unregulated facial recognition software”; “Six young men with connections to the Ferguson protests, including Crawford, have died in the 4 ½ years following the demonstrations”; and “Seeking Information on Individuals Inciting Violence During First Amendment-Protected Peaceful Demonstrations.”

The guide continues: “What to do before blurring: Use a clone stamp tool in Photoshop over a person’s face and other identifiable features. To be completely safe add multiple emojis or randomised images on top of the face. This step can also replace blurring and save the ‘original’ look of your image.

Image Scrubber: This is a very simple tool that you can use both on PC and on your phone. This will also let you delete EXIF data before working with the picture.

Signal: This app securely encrypts your messages so they cannot be tracked, thus making it a great app for communication during protests. It recently added a feature where you can also blur out faces by either allowing the app to do it automatically or draw over things manually.

Facepixelizer: Another great tool similar to Image Scrubber, although it doesn’t let you delete the EXIF data. Works only within your browser and never sends images over network.

That’s Louis Rossman, a repair technician and YouTuber, who went viral recently for railing against Apple. Apple purposely charges a lot for repairs and you either have to pay up or buy a new device. That’s because Apple withholds necessary tools and information from outside repair shops. And to think, we were just so close to change.

So I asked the internet, well how hard IS it to repair? And I saw this guy’s video, and while I am no techie, I AM fueled by spite, so I was all “oh, they do that shit on purpose specifically so they can charge me $1200 bucks or make me buy a new computer hunh? FUCK THEM” and I bought all the tools I needed for about $25 and I bought all the parts I needed for about another $25 and I watched a few tutorial videos, and I replaced my own keyboard.

So, once you are doing the actual deed, it becomes pretty obvious that they are finding creative ways to make this much harder than it has to be on purpose. On thing that stood out to me is, instead of all the tiny screws being the same size, there are about two dozen very slightly different sizes. They could easily be all the same size, or like, two sizes at most, but no.

These mother fuckers will take a panel that screws into place and they’ll use a different size screw for each corner. They are so close that you almost cannot tell them apart visually, but they each will only screw into the matching corner. Like, it’s a pretty clear “fuck you” to anyone trying to do repairs.

Y’all, these are just pink collar jobs. The reason you think there’s so many “mean girls” in these fields is because they’re all like 97% women. Of course some of them are gonna be assholes. There’s assholes everywhere.

While those are all “helper” professions and they very much are pink collar (and are underpaid, that’s not an incompatible idea), they’re also ones that involve power over vulnerable people’s lives. (And I’ve only encountered it as a comparison to, say, male bullies becoming cops, it’s not like men aren’t being mentioned here.)

Secretaries/administrative assistants aren’t on that list for a reason. Flight attendants aren’t on that list. Housecleaners aren’t on that list. Receptionists. Customer service representatives. Dental hygienists. The people who style hair or do nails. That’s not a list of pink collar jobs. It’s specifically (pink collar) positions where if you want to abuse people you’re relatively likely to get away with it.

It can both be true that “nurses who care for disabled people need better pay” and “nurses who care for disabled people have a lot of opportunities to abuse their power and that’s something worth talking about.”

Women aren’t immune from treating people badly because they’re women, or because women are underpaid. They’re sure not immune from specifically seeking out jobs that will allow them to be cruel without any consequences to them, if they get personal satisfaction out of being cruel.

As October starts, and Indigenous People’s day, Thanksgiving, and the holidays loom closer, this is a strong reminder to support native people, and particularly artists!

Please remember that just because the government is giving into pressure and greed, that doesn’t mean that any of this is getting any better, in a lot of ways it’s getting worse. And even if you yourself aren’t being as heavily affected anymore, there are people and communities that are.
